I wasn’t entirely sure if I would write about this but I have to get this off my chest. I can’t even remember how I first came across this site. All I can remember is being there and watching the online streaming video.

The site is aptly named WhatIsTheSecret.tv

What I observed from this site is:

Focus
Visitors are drawn directly to the online video to watch from start to finish!

Viral Marketing Techniques
The number of ways in which you can tell a friend and refer others is very resourceful. The site uses traditional and new technology to maximize the ways in which visitors can spread the word about the site. Pretty damb ingenious, yet simple to replicate for any webmaster.

Take a look at the varieties of ways they are compelling you to inform others about the site:-

FURL IT
LINK TO US
BLOGMARK IT
RECOMMEND IT
DELICIOUS IT
SAVE IT

Creating A Buzz
Throughout the video you are never directly told exactly what the secret is. It remains a mystery for you to figure out on your own. Or as the case may be, get your friends to watch the video to see if they can guess what the secret could be!

Accessibility
Check out the range of popular media players to select your viewing preferences.
Even those on dial up modems have the added convenience to watch a slide show version of the presentation.

Audio Visusal Presentation
Using the power of words, classical music and movie imagery to draw people to the marketing message in a very cleverly produced mini trailer.

I am not personally affiliated with the site in any way and do not know for sure what ‘The Secret’ actually could be. I also do not endorse what product or service the site will eventually launch.

I do think it is a great model for ways in which webmasters alike can use the power of viral marketing to generate free publicity for any web site.

Just take a look for yourself and learn. Were you compelled to enter your name and email address to find out more when the site owners are ready to reveal ‘The Secret?’

Be honest!

Whether you love it or hate it, you can learn a lot from studying the viral tips and techniques for your own benefit.

If you’re a regular visitor at The Warrior Forum you may have read the thread about several theories members have suggested.

Jason Lewis in his post entitled ‘A Viral Marketing Masterpiece’ also refers to the forum post and quotes:

P.S. Allen Says thought that ‘The Secret’ might have something to do with ‘The Master Key System’, as that was supposed to have been ‘banned by the church’.

Check out this website - it’s the UK’s first national viral competition. The competition is encouraging citizens of the UK – young creatives in particular - to pick up the tools around them (mobile phones, laptops, video cameras) and to go create the nation’s best viral emails. The website also has some great tips on how to create a great viral.
