Upgrade To WordPress 2.8.3 Safe and Secure Blogging

After what seems like a long vacation from the frequent announcements for security updates to WordPress we find that version WordPress 2.8.1 holds a possible record of almost no updates for well over six months. There is an important update to the popular blogging software. I use the automatic upgrade feature which works like a charm every time. For those of you with older versions go ahead and upgrade now to 2.8.3. This is the second upgrade in the past couple of weeks after beta testing to patch up further bugs.

The last thing you want is to leave your blog vulnerable to automated software scripts intent on hacking your WordPress blog, install Trojans or worse phishing sensitive credit card data from your customers.
Upgrade now and help bullet proof your blog by logging into your admin and selecting “Automatic upgrade”  ;-) (highly recommended) or download WordPress 2.8.3 and install the old fashion way.

P.S.
If you use the Adrotator plugin you may find that your blog “disappears” and only the header is visible. If this happens don’t panic!

Just remove the line of code [ ?php echo getad('yourfilename'); ?> ] from your file, such as header.php and your blog will reappear. Maybe there is as more stable Adrotator plugin but you can use instead as I have noted there has been no upgrades to Adrotator since I installed it over a year ago.

Top Tip
Activate your plugins one at a time if you are concerned with plugin compatibility issues. That way you can easily determine which plugin causes any errors.
Good luck!

I remember the tiresome manual process required each for each and every upgrade.  However the guys at WordPress listened intently and acted on the feedback of their large community of dedicated WordPress users. Now upgrades are such a breeze!

Reminisce with me here as I deliberate over past WordPress upgrades to give you an idea of how much I loathed every new upgrade announcement. lol

The best feature i like of wp 2.8 is the theme management.. i am a theme freak and changing themes just from our dashboard just makes it easier.

    Hi Carol,

I know what you mean because it is so easy to upload and switch themes.

My friend changes her blog theme several times and also the Permalinks too. The downside is anyone who links to a previous post will have a dead link!

    She’ll never learn!
