I like the dramatization of the video and the catchy soundtrack and I hope you do too. I would agree that social media is definitely here to stay and will evolve into new dimensions over time.

Resistance To Social Networks Is Futile

The first time my online friends invited me to join a social networking site I thought it’s not for me. After more coaxing I gave in and signed up with MySpace and a few others which proved to be a waste of time for me.

I do actively use Facebook and good old Twitter to network, build friendships and share links like latest articles and resources. I have found that although I have a few thousand contacts I actually recognize them through other social netwowrks and their posts. I never would have thought it would be possible but many people have made a lasting impression on me!

Living Up To Expectations

Some social media sites have lost their original path like Zenzuu which claimed to be free to be able to earn a share in ad revenues. Then after gaining hundreds of thousands of dedicated followers they launched out of beta mode and hit members with a fee based credit card scheme which became the new way to earn from using the site. So much for attracting young teenagers and all other freebie seekers and avid social networkers. The majority of these people have no interest in paying for a credit card in order to earn using the site when initially they signed up with Zenzuu because it would be free and all active users would benefit from revenue sharing.
Hmm, not a good foundation to start a social network don’t you think!

Then the infamous Adloco for which many had a huge list of followers like John Chow but then Adloco announced that they miss forecast the potential revenue for their system and had to withdraw the service altogether.

Account Maintainance

Those that have made attempts to pollute and infiltrate my Facebook “Wall” with the latest product or marketing program have been cordially deleted. I don’t know about you but time is precious and I’m not standing by like a nightclub bouncer waiting to pounce on them. I do check new requests usually on a daily basis, otherwise the build up of events and new contacts can become a time consuming chore.

Are You Social Networking Yet?

Get into social networks and build relationships and use it to announce your latest articles on your blog or web site. Engage in conversations with others and contribute to conversations by giving handy links to resources that may be of interest to people. Particularly when people are looking for answers to a question.

If you’re looking for social network advice and tips I’d start with Mari Smith for serious marketing for your business, attracting clients and potential joint venture partners. Mari’s approach is based on sound and ethical principles that won’t get you blocked and reported by friends or banned  from the social network altogether. lol

I like this video, so melodramtic and fun. Twitter is tough to keep up with weven with the free site to view conversations.
I don’t know how people keep up with the madness. Facebook is so much easier to maintain and Myspace is really good for the music industry, celebrities and teenagers.

    Nice video for social stuff

    Hi Ely,

    Glad you enjoyed the video.

I’m sure there will be many more by the end of the year and certainly during new year 2010 as we look back over 2009!
