Protect Your PC From The Black Worm Virus Threat

Black worm is a new and potentially destructive Internet worm currently making its way around the World Wide Web. This type of virus is not easy to detect because it can lay dormant on your computer and reactivate itself every 3rd day of the month to destroy Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF, PSD, PowerPoint, and ZIP files. Black worm hides in email attachments or attaches itself to file downloads stored on your computer.

What you can do to safeguard your computer from viruses, trojans and malicious codes is to install anti-virus software and make sure it is up to date by daily checks or set to automatic updates which are downloaded each time your computer connects to the Internet.

Other Top Tips For Safety and Security:
1.
Install a firewall program and keep it up to date
2. Stop junk mail from reaching your inbox by using a Spam Filter
3. Use software to preview all email from the server allowing you to sort mail before downloading to your email client.
4. Save your important files and work on a regular basis so that you always have a back up to your hard disk and always keep original software disks and reboot disks for added security. You cannot guarantee that your PC will not break down but at least you will have a copy of all of your important data.

AOL security expert Will Smith said: “It’s almost impossible to tell if you have a virus like this, as it will sit dormant on your computer until activated. The best way not to get this virus is not to open any email attachments you suspect, but it’s also critical you have reliable, up-to-date anti-virus software. If you’re in any doubt or you think you might be vulnerable, run a full virus scan of your computer before Friday to identify anything unusual on your PC.”

The Black worm virus also attempts to disable your anti-virus software to stop it updating and can also affect the mouse and keyboard controls on infected machines. You can really see how potent this form of virus threat poses to regular internet and PC users so make daily updates and run a FULL scan of your computer right away.
