Ever wanted to shorten a URL (unique resources locator - web site address) to save you typing a web site address?
Or wanted to make a link so that no-one could possibly guess the destination or change your original link then you need to bookmark some handy free sites.
Take a look at this Amazon link:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=miriadz-20&path=tg%2Fsim
-explorer%2Fexplore-items%2F-%2F0973328703%2F0%2F101%2F1%2Fnone%2
Fpurchase%2Fref%253Dpd%255Fsxp%255Fr0
Now take a look at the same link using one of the shorter url site links at snipurl: http://snipurl.com/cq63
This is by far the best of all the shorter url site because the others are restricted to 64 characters in length. Whereas snipurl can easily tackle my 177 characters link. Plus give me statistics for each url ’snipped’, drag and drop your ’snipped’ url into your browser and more. This is the handy information I received after snipurl converted my very long Amazon link:
Successful. Your snipped url(s):
http://snipurl.com/cq63
Original URL: 177 characters
Snipped URL: 23 characters (13% of original)
http://SnipURL.com
http://www.makeashorterlink.com
http://metamark.net
http://Shorl.com
http://tinyURL.com - multiple languages available
http://notlong.com
http://www.url123.com
Take your pick from the above mentioned sites. They all offer the same url shortening service. These sites are particularly handy for long links from some affiliates programs such as Amazon and Commission Junction.
If you’re including links in an email t makes sense to shorten the link. It will look more professional . No more worrying about long links ending up on two lines in an email message.
This looks very unprofessional. So go ahead and test them out for free. We provide these sites for our own affiliate program as part of our free tools and resources for our free to join our affiliate program.
