Blog Traffic Tips and Newsletters

If you're new here, join the community by subscribing to my RSS feed. Enter your name and email address to the form located at the top of each blog page for email updates. Glad to have your onboard!

Following my recent change from publishing my newsletter from HTML web page to a blog, for which I have to give full credit to Tinu for inspiring me to do this. I’ve had enough of battling with problems through Spam filters by heavy handed ISP’s.

I hope to increase my readership and be able to communicate my message better. Blogs seem to be taking over on the net. More people are blogging than ever before and more people are curious about blogs in general.

I know it looks a little bare right now so I’m not going to link to it until I have filled it with lots of useful content. Now my subscribers know exactly where to view my newsletters and can subscribe via RSS as well as traditional email.

I apologise once again if any readers experienced broken links over the past few days. I had a bug in my major link script which has been fixed by the original script developer. Let’s hope this does not happen again.

If only I could live in a perfect online world!

High Profile Article Marketing v Article Marketing

With all the raves and buzz about using article marketing as one of the best ways to add content to your sites and for generating hundreds of back links to your sites by submitting them to the big ezine directories you would think that we all must be doing so well.

Do you know the difference between article marketing and high profile article marketing?

Did you know there was a difference between the two?

Well I’ve listened in on one of Tinu’s many MP3 file at her Free Traffic Tip Blog. Tinu really goes into detail about how she runs her business through writing regular high profile articles with success.

I like to listen to a real person who is not afraid to reveal some of their most potent traffic generating techniques that effectively pull in orders for their products and services. There is a wealth of information in Tinu’s extensive blog archives.

I highly recommend that you take a look and spend some time reading about how Tinu uses articles to promote her business expertise and helps so many online businesses get targeted traffic to their sites and blogs.

You will also find countless links to Tinu’s very own high profile articles in some of the major search engine newsletters such as WebProNews.

Visit the Free Traffic Tip and you will understand exactly what I mean.

Marketing With Private Label Articles: When Not To Use Them

Private Label Rights Articles are a great source for adding content to your niche web sites. There has been a steady increase in the number of membership sites offering Private Label Rights Articles to members every month at substantially reduced prices than if you had to pay a ghost writer to do the job. There is a big problem with established ezine directories who state clearly in their terms that only ‘100% original articles’ by an author is permitted for inclusion to the directory. One such directory I myself use has gone as far as reconfirming their policy in a recent blog post by Chris Knight, editor of EzineArticles.com.

Basically you can create your own ezine directory and use your Private Label Rights Article content on them. Its best to rewrite them and ad your own content to them to make them different from the original or you can use the services of emerging membership sites who have software that will make your content unique.

So the golden rule is do not submit them to established ezine directories. Most reputable Private Label Rights Article membership sites will recommend many ways to use your content to your benefit. I’m sure you can come up with even more creative ways to use your content as demonstrated here. Any further suggestions would help other readers so feel free to comment.

By all means use these membership sites to create content for your web sites but only submit your own articles to the major ezine directories or maybe hire a ghost writer to write your articles for you but make sure you have full and exclusive rights to them. Try Guru.com, Elance and RentACoder to find a reputable ghost writer if that’s what you are planning to do now or in the near future.

New Addition To Our Ezine Directory List

The latest instalment of ezine directories has been added to my previous post. this new contribution from Ezine Empire was submitted by the owner Stacie Zaragosa. In her own words to me:

“I created Ezine Empire to be user friendly. Neatly organized. All of the ezines’ information is posted right there for you to see. No fancy searches. What you see is what you get. Ezine Empire will be continually growing. We currently have over 35 categories. New sections that are in the works are “Ezines that offer Free Ads” and “Ezines that accept Articles.”

The site has a fresh look and feel and is very easy to navigate through each ezine catogory. I’m in the process of submitting my on ezine to the Ezine Empire directory and you should too. The more exposure and links you can get for your business the better. Register your ezine at Ezine Empire today and be sure to bookmark the site.

Should You Convert Your Newsletter Into A Blog?

Feedback from your questions

I’ve had some questions regarding the idea of merging ezines into blog format. The main reason being that blogs are growing in popularity and make it easier to attract more search engine traffic through the pinging services and blog directory listings. I don’t know just yet if I would be comfortable with the idea due to the fact that my ezine subscribers usually have privileged bonuses and special offers. By converting to a blog it will mean that any visitor gets instant access to all of my recommendations and offers without being subscribed. The upside is that more people will be exposed to my ezine which is my main goal!

Hmm decisions, decisions!

I have noted that several other ezine/newsletters that are now being hosted on blogs such as Tinu’s Free Traffic Tip News. You could merge the two into one blog for ease of subscription and easy access for your subscribers. Or link both blogs in your sidebar for easy access and then you would have your posts that are guaranteed to get sent out and received for your RSS/XML subscribers and you can use an email service such as Bloglet [UPDATE - FeedBurner.com and Aweber are more reliable] to manage email subscriptions. As I am writing this I just thought of the many cuts in costs and labour you could save with blogs;-

- No need for a paid email autoresponder service
- No web pages or HTML to fiddle about with
- No hosting fees if you are happy with a free blog hosting service such as Blogger.com
- No more problems with email delivery

If you are just starting out you could build a community of loyal readers and subscribers AT NO COST uses the tips mentioned above. No cost no risk online presences as long as you keep within the terms of your blog hosting service. Of course if you are not so concerned with costs you can use an autoresponder service so that you still have control over email delivery and can send out offers and updates at your own scheduled times. As well as moving your host onto your own web space. But as I suggest all of the above can be done for zero dollars!

Anyway I am open to suggestions to the idea of making my newsletter into a blog. I already use RSS as an alternative to email subscriptions for my main newsletter so in a sense one step away from a blog. I am pondering with the thought but in any case I would create prefer to create a seperate blog for my newsletter and would link back to my Practical Marketing Tips Blog. Ideas, suggestions and other site examples welcome.

11 Easy Content Ideas For Your Ezine Or Web Site

“11 Quick (and Good) Content Ideas for Your Ezine or Website”
by Alexandria K. Brown, “The E-zine Queen”

Publishing articles, especially via an e-zine, is the
ideal opportunity to showcase your business. By sharing
your knowledge and expertise, you build credibility as
an expert, while spreading the word about your services
and products.

While I’m sure that sometimes you have dozens of content
ideas, I bet other times you find yourself staring at a
blank computer screen, grumbling that it’s publishing
time again. Well, have no fear! Here are 11 quick
(and good) content ideas for when you’re in a pinch.

1. Give real-life success stories.

Describe a problem you’ve solved for a client/customer,
and use that as a springboard to offer more general advice.
Show your readers how you’ve helped customers address
challenges — “case studies” if you will. This positions
you as the expert in your readers’ minds more than your
coming out and saying so.

2. Think of three areas in which you’d like your clients
to think of you as a resource.

Now develop content in those areas. For example, in my
past life as a professional copywriter, I really enjoyed writing
for Web sites. To help encourage my clients and prospects
to hire me for these projects, I published several articles
on how to write Web copy that sells.

3. Read industry publications for ideas.
Are there any hot issues in your field right now?

The more controversial, the better. Don’t be afraid to offer
your own opinion — your readers want to know it. After all,
YOU are the expert in their eyes.

4. Jot down 8 questions your clients have asked you in the past.

You know, the ones they ask you over and over. Answer each
in a short article. If you publish weekly, that’s two months’
worth of content, right off the bat! And if you can’t think
of any questions, send all your current clients/customers a
quick e-mail, asking them what topics they’re most interested
in learning more about.

5. Learn anything neat lately from an industry conference,
workshop, seminar, or insightful article?

No one says you have to reinvent the wheel of information!
Pass on any gems of advice you’ve learned elsewhere — just
give them full attribution. Or give your opinion of the event
or article itself. Your readers will appreciate your frankness.

6. Offer a list of your top 5 or 10 tips on a certain subject.

It’s much easier to bang out a list of tips than to put together
a real article. Of course, the tips can evolve into an article
if you wish! Be sure to list your best tip first, or at least
close to the top. (If you “fire your biggest gun” last, you
risk losing your audience before they get to the good stuff.)

7. Interview associates whose expertise would interest your
readers.

(while not competing with yours). E-mail interviews are
incredibly easy to do. Just send your interviewee 3 to 5
questions via e-mail, edit their answers, and have them approve
the final version. Be sure to give them a short plug in your
e-zine as a thank you. (A one- or two-sentence description of
their business and their Web address should be fine.)

8. Recommend books and resources that you use, and offer full
reviews on them.

In one issue of my old e-zine, “AKB MarCom Tips,” I featured
reviews of my favorite four copywriting resource books. I’m glad
I also gave my Amazon.com associate links, because I ended up
making some nice commission, to boot!

9. Invite clients or readers to write you with their own questions,
and answer one in each issue.

Right after their question, publish the person’s name, business, and
Web address, with their permission. They’ll enjoy the attention and
free publicity!

10. Invite readers to send in profiles.

Ask them to tell you about themselves — their names, businesses,
locations, and how they use the information gained in your e-zine.
Feature one profile in each issue or one every few issues.

11. When all else fails, borrow an article!

There are dozens of Web sites offering hundreds of articles that
you can use in your e-zine. The articles are free and available
for you to use immediately. The only catch is you’re required to
leave the entire article intact, including the author’s promotional
information. One of my favorite places to search for articles is
www.ezinearticles.com.

One last note: Keep in mind that if your e-zine’s main objective is
to get you more clients and customers, you should NOT feature
other writers’ articles more than once in a blue moon. Remember
our main goal is to continually showcase YOU. : )

The Ultimate Resource For A Never Ending Stream Of Private Rights Articles

Article writing is first and foremost one of the very best ways to get recognition as an expert in your field and gives you free exposure to thousands of potential readers.

If your articles are accepted into the top PR Ranking article directories you can be sure that people will not only read your content but will be eager to reprint your article on their own web sites to provide valuable content to their visitors and mailing lists.

Whether you are just getting started or are just too busy with daily commitments, you could definitely benefit from an endless surge with Private Rights Articles.

So What Exactly Are Private Rights Articles and What Can I Do With Them?

Private Rights Articles means that you can get full rights to professionally written articles on a variety of niche [specialist] subjects that are in high demand from ezine publishers and anyone looking for a source of free content for their site. Articles are the very best way for people to learn about a subject area and can help educate them about a specific topic or help them to solve a problem or make key decisions.

The list of things you can do with articles is almost endless and if used correctly you can use your own articles to create profit pulling ways in which to promote and advertise your business and services free of charge. Without the need to pay for pay-per-click advertising, or any other paid promotional services. Using articles can raise your business and personal profile exponentially.

Do not underestimate the power of article writing. Just think about newspapers and magazine articles, both online and in print. Millions of people read them on a regular day to day to get information about current affairs, hobbies, celebrities, a whole host of popular markets and topics that not only draw in targeted prospects but compel people to buy and read them time and time again.

This is the way you should be looking at the potential power of being THE AUTHOR of your own arsenal of online articles. Private Rights Articles allows you to put your own Resource Box [about you and your business] at the end of each of hundreds of pre-written professional articles to use as you wish.

You become the owner of the articles and NEVER have to pay for royalty fees every time you use them. Unlike using articles from online article directories where you HAVE TO keep the author’s original resource box intact at the end of each borrowed article. This creates links away from your site when in reality you want the links to point to your own sites and products. With Private Rights Articles you decide what information goes into the Resource Box. This is where you’re unique golden opportunity begins!

10 Ways To Propel Your Business With Articles?

Writing Articles For Promoting Your Site Using A Resource Box

Do you write and publish your own articles?

Are you adding a ‘Resource Box’ at the end of your article to inform the reader of who you are and what skills and work you do online?

I sincerely hope so because every one of your free articles will link back to your web site business. There is a wealth of information to be gained from the simple art of writing articles. You can submit your articles to ezine publishers, article directories, article banks, search engine newsletters and much more. Try a search and see what sites you can find to submit your articles.

You can encourage people to use your article in their own ezine or newsletter and receive free marketing and positive exposure for your online business. I use a ‘resource box’ with every article I publish.

Try to find some free sites eager to add your article to their database or find an article to reuse. Read my previous post to view an example of a Resource Box.

Examples of search terms:

"free article directories"
"article directories"
"ezine articles"

Or take the a look at my post, The Best Online Article Directories to submit your articles to on a regular basis.

You will benefit from the free exposure to your site as many ezine publishers begin to use your articles as content for their readers. Also creating multiple one way link backs to your site. You may not be getting paid for this but you can be sure that each time your articles are used and your links clicked on that you will enjoy a surge in targeted traffic to your designated site.

A great idea is to set up a web page with an opt-in form to build your mailing leads. I wouldn’t advise adding an email address due to the Spam Harvesting Software. Be creative and experiment with different Resource Box description to target a particular site.

If you’re still stuck for ideas have a look at some article directories and browse through the author’s resource box at the end of the article for ideas.
