How To Create A Basic Redirection Web Page

The following code can be used to set up a very basic redirection page. You may want to use redirection pages for your affiliate programs.

This is a technique which can save you entering a very long url which looks clumsy and unattractive and people will not want to click through the link. So let’s use a more appealing method in order to get those clicks!

Here’s what you need to do:

You’ll create a subdirectory at your site like www.yoursite.com/miriadz/ (if you don’t know how to do this ask your webmaster) and when people click on this page it will automatically redirect them to your affiliate link!

So anyone that clicks on www.yoursite.com/miriadz/ will be redirected to:

http://www.miriadz.com/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=username

Here’s the code you will need to insert into a web page to create your redirection process:

<body>

</body>

</html>

So now you can use the shorter and ‘cleaner’ www.yoursite.com/yourlinkname/ URL in your promotions!

This quick and simple set up helps to mask your affiliate links and gain more clicks in the process.

Ewan Chia’s New Grab URL - Shorter URL Service

Ewen Chia announced his new shorter url web service today. If you are not familiar with Ewen’s work you will be able to view his web sites at this site from the links.

Shorten those ugly long affiliate links and web addresses with Ewen’s drag and drop Grab URL service. By dragging the toolbar to your browser you will always have the service ready whenever you need it.

As with all free services there is a tendency for some users to abuse the system by using unethical practices. READ the terms of use before going ahead and using the service or you could be banned!

Free Online Services to Shorten Long URL Links

Ever wanted to shorten a URL (unique resources locator - web site address) to save you typing a web site address?

Or wanted to make a link so that no-one could possibly guess the destination or change your original link then you need to bookmark some handy free sites.

This is by far the best of all the shorter url site because the others are restricted to 64 characters in length. Whereas snipurl can easily tackle my 177 characters link. Plus give me statistics for each url ’snipped’, drag and drop your ’snipped’ url into your browser and more. This is the handy information I received after snipurl converted my very long Amazon link:

Take your pick from the above mentioned sites. They all offer the same url shortening service. These sites are particularly handy for long links from some affiliates programs such as Amazon and Commission Junction.

If you’re including links in an email t makes sense to shorten the link. It will look more professional . No more worrying about long links ending up on two lines in an email message.
