Following the official announcement by eBay that they will be moving to their own in-house affiliate management system, eBay Partner Network. I received an email from eBay Sweden’s Publisher Development Manager with the following message:

“I would like to take the opportunity to promote the eBay Sweden program that will continue to have an affiliate program with Commission Junction, and evolve it! eBay bought their Swedish equivalence some time ago, and has closed down ebay.se.

Instead, all attention and effort are put on eBay/Tradera with the URL tradera.com. I wonder if you as a Commission Junction partner have some free capacity to enjoy the opportunity with the eBay Sweden program. Take this opportunity today!

- Advertiser: eBay / Tradera
- Category: Auction
- Website: tradera.com
- Commission: 50 - 85 SEK per CRU (~4,3 – 6,8 GBP / 5,4 – 8,6 EUR)
- Market: SE
- Paid search bidding: no brand bidding
- Product catalogue: yes (API)

The Swedish eBay has got a big group of people as clients from nearby countries too such as Norway and Finland, since no other Nordic country than Sweden has got a localized eBay (Nordic country = Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland).

If there is anything I can do regarding the eBay Swedish program called eBay/Tradera, would you like to contact me?

All the best,

Lina Malm

eBay Cracks Down On Ebook and Digital Product Sellers

STOP and desist orders have literally been issued on eBay sellers!

According to news from 5Star Affiliate Programs owner, Linda Buquet as from March 31st eBay listings cannot contain digital downloads of any kind. The only place sellers can list their information products is within the eBay classifieds section. This could be viewed as an early April Fool’s prank but it appears to be very serious.

Top Tips

1. Burn your information products onto CD for shipping

2. Use your “About Me Page” to link to your website where you can sell ebooks and information products direct.

3. Add your digital products as back end to sales in your thank you emails.

The Benefits of Selling Information Products

Disadvantages of Selling Digital Information Products

How do you feel about being cast away to eBay classifieds?

Could this be a ploy to get more people to use eBay classifieds and further boost eBay’s incoming traffic?

Or is this a blatant crack down on information products? Maybe due to feedback from customers or the new management making radical changes!

I’m sure there are some more innovative ideas to keep you in business. Share them with other readers by leaving your feedback via the comments.

Are You Using Ebay’s Classified Ads Site?

Ebay have recently launched their own classified as site that is sure to be a hit for this HIGH TRAFFIC shopping site. I myself take it for granted when I use Ebay as one of my top three sites for searching for bargains. I have purchased many gifts and household items at Ebay for well below the sky high prices of retail shops.

Recently EBay launched its US classified ads site Kijiji.com, I know. what an unusal name to come up with. For us in the UK we have Gumtree.com, a little easier on the tongue to pronounce.

There’s so much to see and do here and its all FOR FREE!!

We have also seen sites like FaceBook launching classifieds ads which I am seriously losing into for my own benefit.

NEVER before can you say that you have no way to advertise your site and business.

The wealth of FREE classified ad placements and social networking sites makes self-promotion so much more easily accessible than ever before.

There is an abundance of opportunities so seize them, but use them wisely so that you keep within the TERMS of each classified ad site!!

Just a few days ago I received a message from someone using MojoPages “good hardwood floor installer in Del Mar, CA area”. This is not my area of expertise; however I am working on a way I can direct him to the right place to get help. You never know what may become of giving people honest reviews and feedback. Reciprocation is powerful medium so I may well hear back from him and other users over time.

Social networking and classified ads rock as far as I’m concerned.
Head on down to Ebay Classifieds and take a look around today.

Updates On Auction Ads, Ebay Tracking And Web 2.0

After the much talked about problems with Ebay’s tracking system I have been able to get my reporting up for Auction Ads.

Now I cannot say whether the figures are truly accurate because I have not been using them for a very short space of time. So I have no way to compare previous results.

Anyway they are back in business and I’ll be keeping a watchful eye on my commissions.

I was reading Aaron Wall’s post today as I was writing up this post as he documents how fast moving the Web 2.0 sites model. Aaron highlights how many competitors race to launch a similar web sites that are in direct competition with each other.

It’s good for the consumer because we get added choice and convenience but it could mean that the Web 2.0 web site owners have to settle for a smaller market share.

What are your thoughts?

The Podcast Network To Sell Ads On G’Day World On Ebay

Some very interesting things are going on at The Podcast Network as Cameron Riley and his team hope to monetize ads G’Day World’s Podcast currently on Ebay. They aim to sell advertising space for their podcast via Ebay auctions. With Ebay having such a huge customer base this new venture is surely guaranteed to be an overnight success.

Bloggers and Ebay enthusiasts will benefit from using the ads to target visitors from Ebay. Depending on the pricing structure this could be a good cost effective way of marketing for regular people as well as small businesses.

Online Auction Scams: The Rise In Illegal Goods On Ebay

Ebay is the premier online auction site wouldn’t you agree?

Like them or loathe them you can find almost any weird and wonderful product for your hopping needs. However if you have ever searched you will know that there are many items that are offered for sale that are in breach of copyright and shouldn’t be listed. It is usually an irate or greedy buyer who gets the product on the cheap and then complains to Ebay that they have been ripped off by the seller. So who is the real crook the seller or the buyer who should have known better?

I’d say both unless you’ve been caught out!

What I mean by this is when a seller does not divulge that the product is a copy of the original. This I find is common with DVD items. Most honest sellers will let you know details of its condition

Other deceptive sellers will provide the original cover as an image and may even have the barefaced cheek to send you a burnt CD copy and enclose it in the original cover like some kind of pitiful compensation.

Yeh, you’ve probably guessed I was inadvertently caught out just like this. I even took a sneak peak back at the listing to see if I had miss read the sales letter. But it was as I thought a ploy. Anyway before if could get into the swing of things such as requesting a refund and contacting Ebay the seller was ‘no longer registered’. No doubt they were not legitimate and wanted to pull a fast buck and run.

I’m very fortunate as I only paid $2.20 for the DVD but the quality is crap and it was meant for a present. It is now well on it’s way to be recycled at my local recycling center. I suppose there is a first time for everything. Just be careful and don’t loose out if you can.

Have you been caught out at Ebay or any other online auction with fake or misrepresented goods?
If so I’d like to hear about it and how did the seller and auction reimburse you or settle your case.

How To Make A Living From Online Auctions and Ebay From The Experts

In response to questions about starting a business on Ebay I thought I would share my own experiences and finding with you. About a year ago I was making plans to move home I decided for a complete clearout of all the things I was cramming away into storage and was never going to use the stiff again. In he past I would have just given away items to he local charity shop but now we have Ebay. I couldn’t resist the idea of selling my junk to anyone that would have it for a few cents. Besides I wouldn’t have to put a classified ad in the paper, giving out my telephone number and allowing complete strangers into my home. Yeh, Ebay took this hassle and risk away.

Don’t get me wrong I still had bag loads of clothes in relatively good condition to send to the charity shop but there were a few electrical items and PC equipment that I wanted to test out for Ebay [no electrical items accepted].

Would you believe that I sold every single item that I listed?

Absolutely brilliant!

I also dabble with a few more sales as a paintball and boys toys such as remote controlled Hummers and stuff people are really keen on for their kids and themselves. The trouble was I was only doing it for fun and didn’t have the time to do more. I did get some excellent tips from some very experienced Ebay merchants through Mike Enos who sells a hoard of products on Ebay and earn a very nice six figure sum as an Ebay Platinum Power Seller. Mike has also been on several seminars including the ‘Ebay Live’ amongst others and he really knows his stuff. You should read his newsletter or should I say listen to his newsletter as he has an audio file with every publication.

As for wholesalers I used Wholesale Directory. Mike uses them and I can confirm that they do have a grand supply of wholesalers to help you find good supplier for your Ebay niche market. You will also get an understanding of how to find out what people are looking for, as opposed to what you think may be a good idea.

My paintball idea was good BUT the competition was fierce and I wasn’t serious enough to carry it on. Although I was happy to loose a few pounds of excess belongings and have reduced the clutter in my home. So if you want to get started on Ebay do plenty of research first to find the best mentors and most profitable markets for your Ebay business ventures.

Don’t forget to try the DropShip Source Directory as well as the Wholesale Directory for some great suppliers. I also recommend that you read Robert Tungett’sAuction Riches ezine for more up to the minute Ebay tips and resources.

How To Avoid Internet Scams & Customer Security Issues

Ebay is undoubtedly the nation’s favorite online auction site. Any ordinary individual can buy and trade goods and services as long as they meet Ebay’s User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

More and more people are using Ebay’s preferred payment system PayPal to send and receive money quickly and securely. Sellers should be experienceing more sales via PayPal as now the company have added the flexibility for buyers to pay with their credit card and DO NOT HAVE to open a PayPal account, as was the case since the company’s inception.

With all of the business revenue and high traffic Ebay enjoys you would believe that the site is virtually impenetrable.

However, even Ebay can fall victim to unscrupulous scam artists. Recent news regarding fraudulent traders who never send out goods and those who request money order payments, again no goods are shipped to the buyer.

Thankfully Ebay has stopped all Money Order transactions during December 2005. A very prudent decision as the payment CANNOT be reversed as with credit card transactions. The only way to claim back on fraud from sellers who keep your payment is to involve the police to make an official investigation.

Personally I am very surprised that Ebay EVER permitted the use of Money Orders given that they cannot be easily traced or reversed and only provides guarantee to the recipient.

Another area of concern for online security and scams are hackers. Yesterday’s Yahoo News reported that a 20 year old man was convicted of stealing thousands of dollars from private customer accounts and looks certain to face at least 5 years in jail.

Although reports of this nature are rare it does pose a real threat to online security. Many people are already apprehensive about providing sensitive credit card information on online order forms.

If you shop at Amazon you will know that once you are ready to go to checkout you will be asked to create an account for which your personal details for shipping goods and credit card information is stored online whether you want to or not. For some reason Amazon do not give customers the ‘option’ not to store their sensitive credit card details!

If some online grocery outlets such as Asda offer new and regular customers the option as to whether they would like to register their payment card or not why don’t superstores like Amazon offer the same courtesy to their customers?

I have personally used Ebay to get rid of lots of unwanted goods during several home moves and storage room clear outs. I also am an infrequent shopper at Amazon and even I have to admit I was not impressed with how they stored my credit card data without my express permission. At least Ebay provides you with all the questions required for registration at the out set so you can continue or discontinue with the sign up process at not feel that you were ‘held hostage’.

What are your personal thoughts on online data security and are you concerned with online shopping security?
