Spam, New Contact Form, Aweber and Email Updates!
If you're new here, join the community by subscribing to my RSS feed. Enter your name and email address to the form located at the top of each blog page for email updates. Glad to have your onboard!
New Contact Us Form
Seems that some idiots felt they had the right to add my email into their autoresponder just for using the form. So my response to this is to REMOVE the Aweber form in place of a regular Spam free contact form. I also want to alert everyone to the fact that my main email address has been officially TERMINATED!
I have used that email address since the launch of this website way back in 2002. However even with the aid of MailWasherPro to automatically filter out the “crap”, the level of Spam has grown to such ridiculous level that I had to get rid of my main contact email address once and for all!
Now once again I have taken back control of my inbox. I really loathe support systems so for now I steered way from that option. I know I works well for some but I want to keep things simple on this website.
Ticket Support Systems
One thing I do like about support tickets is the built in feature where you can enter the most frequently asked question so before people send in their questions they can check the pre-written answers before continuing with their enquiry.
For instance Rosalind Gardner’s support system is set up nicely. She has very competent virtual assistant who will answer questions promptly and courtesy in good time.
Well I’m not a famous as young Ros  but I can understand how the support ticket system sets her free from inundated with emails. Plus give her more time to spend in her pool eh!
So be good and DO NOT enter my email address into your hosted autoresponder systems because I will continue to report people for this. I only wish these people used Aweber they would lose their accounts in a blink of an eye.
Contact Via Skype
Regular subscribers and visitors have always been courteous. In fact the best way to contact me is via Skype.
I’ve used Yahoo Messenger and Google Chat but now I’m a die hard fan of Skype. Especially as I can keep in contact with friends and family members outside of the UK and not have to worry about long distance phone calls. All toll free chats with other registered Skype users.
I even spoke with my Floridian buddy during the early hours of the morning to catch up on our latest endeavors all for free.
So you can be sure I will get all text messages as soon as I log in.
Love Skype, Love Broadband, Love the Internet!
Feedback
Thanks to several regular and new customers from New York who contacted me by phone to let me know that one of my emails bounced. This can be a warning sign that there is a potential scam. You buy a product and then cannot contact the seller if there is a problem. I called him back to assure him that I had changed emails and regularly changed download links and made an error copying the new destination URL which resulted in him getting nothing but a 404 error page. I also emailed him the download link and waited until he had his product. Not many people would do that for a customer but I was able to reassure him and develop trust and a lasting friendship. Thanks also for joining the newsletter too!
See the new “Contact Us Page“!
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Spam, Scams and Autoresponder Nightmares!

How to choose an autoresponder that won’t get you banned, anger your customers and drag your credibility down the toilet!
How long would you consider reasonable for a list owner to manually remove your email address from their mailing list?
How about 24 hours or within a few days or so. Maybe they’ve been away from their computer so a week or two at the most should be reasonable enough.
Well how about NEVER!
I’ve unsubscribed myself from several affiliate programs over time mainly because I decided not to promote their products or the conversion rates were unsatisfactory. Anyway to cut a long story short I have been trying to unsubscribe from a credit card affiliate program email updates. I received a personal message from their admin that my email address had been manually removed and I kept all reply messages just in case. Yet more than 7 months later I find yet another unwanted email from them.
What is up with them?
The reason I dropped this company is because I was actively promoting my affiliate link and when I sent an email to make an enquiry into the location of the statistics page I received a “Page Not Found” error message so naturally I sent an email to the Affiliate Manager for answers.
The reply back was that they had changed the affiliate tracking system and had issued new links. Frthermore I would receive ZERO credit for any sign ups generated from the old links, even though they were still redirecting as normal to their product pages.
I was then instructed to sign up again with their new system.
I wrote back and told them to forget about it and that I don’t want to be affiliated with the company any longer. I also instructed them to remove my name, email address and personal details from their mailing list.
They obviously did not remove my email address and do not remove ANY BOUNCED MESSAGES because that I have set up MailWasherPro to bounce all messages from their domain months ago!

With all of the talk about FTC and email practices what does this kind of blatant spamming. Yes, I could change my email address but I have had enough of doing this over and over again.
Unsubscribe Me Now
Their emails to not have an unsubscribe link in them at all forcing you to contact them direct in hope that they will remove you.
They give me the distinct impression that they have absolutely NO INTENTION
of removing me. I hadn’t even noticed their messages because of my email settings. MailWasherPro automatically remembers my preferences for Spam messages plugging cheap prescription drugs, replica watches and so on. Leaving my real messages, “friends” in plain view.
I’ll be taking the matter further letting them know that I am contacting the FTC with copies of all their apparent reassurances that they have removed my email address from their autoresponder. I’m sure they will miraculously remove me or better still ban my email address from receiving their messages permanently.
What a complete waste of time.
Another Email Dilemma
A well known marketer sent out their apologies to their entire list for their in-house mailing list scripts not removing unsubscribe requests. Now I’m not going to preach here but Autoreponder Plus is a good script that I have been subscribed to on many Marketer’s lists and unsubscribed with no problems. However if you have web server has issues or a glitch somewhere that creates errors with your mailing lists script then you’re to be held fully responsible. This could ruin your credibility and relationship with your subscribers. Do you think it is really worth the problems you will have by saving a few nickels and dimes for a monthly or annual subscription.
Third Party Professional Autoresponders Services
I personally use Aweber because they can manage all bounces, subscriptions, unsubscriptions and have unlimited autoresponder capabilities. Plus…
- No Hosted Script Issues
- No Spam complaints that will stick
- No Bounce Management Issues
Build trust with your subscribers when they see you are using a professional autoresponder company with long term good standing. Let the autoresponder service deal with establishing “whitelisting” for their domain with the major email providers like Yahoo, Gmail etc.
Hosted scripts may seem like a good cost effective means to manage your mailing list but unless you have a dedicated server or have good programming knowledge to sort out any scripting issues then I highly recommend using a third party service.
There are many professionally third party autoresponder services to choose from. More and more savvy Internet Marketers are using and switching to Aweber after using their own hosted scripts. So that should give you a good idea that professional third party autoreponder services is the best way to go. When it comes to mailing lists it really does go without saying…
“YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR”
You also have a better chance of thwarting Spam complaints using a third party service than one hosted on your own domain. Remember people are human and can easily forget they have subscribed to your list out of many others. People are TOO QUICK to cry ‘Spam’ and ‘Scam’ before they double check to see if they DID actually subscribe to receive further information from you. Its just plain human nature to be forgetful. At least with a recognized autoresponder service like Aweber under your belt you can be sure that any Spam complaints will be dealt with in your favor because they have very strict rules to abide. You will also have details of each subscribers data showing:
- Name
- Email Address
- Date Subscribed
- IP Address
- URL subscribed etc
All logged and recorded in you Aweber account. No more hairs at the back of your neck standing up on end. These kinds of dilemmas are more than likely some of the reasons that disusade people from starting a mailing list in the first place!
Does this include you?
Alternatives For Bloggers
If you only have blogs then you’re best course of action is to use services like FeedBurner, FeedBlitz as they will manage all of your RSS and Email subscription for you on autopilot. FeedBurner costs $0.00 has high deliverability rates and is one of the most trusted email delivery systems. Try bombarding them with Spam complaints.
Freebie Alternative - Well Sort Of!
An excellent way to build a mailing list WITHOUT having to deal with mailing list scripts of ANY KIND can be found with Web 2.0 social network sites. Just use the in-built mailing list service, within the user terms of course. Contact your friends as and when the system allows and build credibility and trust. A good tip is to GIVE to people. Warm them up to you and share your knowledge with others first and foremost. People will appreciate your generosity and may well sign up to receive more details about your business thereafter.
What mailing list script do you use?
If you use a hosted script have you experienced any Spam complaints?
And if their was a problem with the script do you have the skills to fix it yourself or would you have to contact the script developer and wait for them to get things sorted on your behalf?

Our Top WordPress Plugins
I’ve been meaning to write up about the WordPress plugins I use for my blogs for some time now. Well this is another task from ‘things to do’ that I can mark off for today.
AdRotator
AdRotator wil rotate any size banners to display one at a time each time page is loaded. Currently used in our header file.
AdSense Deluxe
AdSense Deluxe allows you to insert code into your posts from a drop down menu button on the edit post page conveniently positioned below the default WordPress edit buttons. Use the ‘Options’ in your admin panel to cut and paste your own collection of AdSense Codes, giving them a name and description for easy reference. Once this is set up you can use the drop down menu to insert AdSense ads anywhere you desire in your posts.
Askimet
To use Askimet you just need an API key which you can get free from WordPress.com. This captures the time almost all incoming Spam message dead in its track. On a few occasions REAL comments may accidentally end up in the Spam list, however you can ‘Select’ and click on the ‘De-spam marked comments’ button to send misdirected valid comments to your moderated comments list. Life would be another thousand more clicks a week or more of manually deleting Spam WITHOUT Askimet!
Bumpzee
Adds the Bumpzee widget to your blog with your unique Bumpzee code. You can see mine located at the footer/end of this blog.
FeedBurner FeedSmith
Now managed by Google and originally created by Steve Smith. This plugin will automatically redirect your default RSS feeds to your FeedBurner feed URL. So you will not lose any of your valuable subscribers. This is another gem of a plugin I don’t think I could live without.
Get Recent Comments
With this plugin you can display the most recent comments or trackbacks on you blog.
Google XML Sitemaps
A simple and practical way to build a ’search engine friendly’ sitemap for your blog. Currently supports Ask.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO. Updates automatically after new posts are published.
Got Banners
Got Banners is a simple plugin for rotating banners such as the popular 125 x 125 pixel banners on your site displaying a series of banners that make random changes in disdplay order with each page view. Helps to combat ad blindness as the ads appear in different places and grab your attention in the process.
Jerome’s Keywords
Easily add essential keywords to each blog post. You can also use this plugin to create tag clouds, meta tags, site tags or make create Technorati tags.
ShareThis
An easy way for your visitors to ‘share‘ your posts with others by posting to social bookmarking sites and sends your post to a friend via email.
Simple Yearly Archive
As the title suggests the Simple Yearly Archive plugin will lists your archives by year. Ideally I would prefer to use Compact Monthly Archive for its ergonomic user-friendly format which looks so INCREDIBLY well organized down at ProBlogger. Hat’s off to the programmer for creating such a cool streamlined plugin.
Sociable
Adds social bookmarking icons below each post for people to share with others.
Subscribe To Comments
Allows one click subscription to comments on any particular post by sending you an email announcement whenever additional comments are made. Once installed and activates you don’t have to do anything. Very good for people who do not want to subscribe to comments through a feed and can access exact posts that are of personal interest to them.
What Would Seth Godin Do
Built on the principles of Seth Godin’s ideas to use cookies to distinguish between new and returning visitors to your site. A customized welcome message is shown to new visitors based on their cookie inviting them to subscribe to your RSS feed an email updates. A great way to get a High Profile A-List Blogger to check you out!
WP Grins
Adds fun smilies to your post with just one click. After activating this plugin you’ll find a variety of smilies in a row just under your edit screen. Smilies also appear on the comments section for your use by your visitors who leave a comment.
OnlyWire AutoSubmitter
I’ve saved the best for last!
I regularly use OnlyWire to submit to Social Bookmarking sites and wondered if there was a better way. So I did a quick search and found this genius plugin which will automatically login and submit to my OnlyWire account for each post I publish. OnlyWire Auto Submitter should save me a lot of time posting to 22 social bookmarking sites. This is a new addition to my currently plugin inventory so I need to personally test it out to check if it really does submit to OnlyWire with little or no problems. If anyone else has used this plugin your feeback would be appreciated.
WordPress 2.0+ Benefits
WordPress has grown up and finally taken into account the changing face of the Web 2.0 and widget mania. With an abundance of widget themes being designed and the amazing value all for free from programmers and the help from people at the WordPress Community Forums who provide mostly lightening fast responses to any problems you may come across.
Many blogger’s have revamped their blogs with a huge preference for wider layout, wigetized sidebars making adding images, link etc a breeze. No more searching through code to edit your template anymore which is the surest ways to screw things up if you forget to save the original unedited PHP files.
Arggggh no more!
WordPress have developed the 2.0+ series to incorporate ‘tags’ into the default script which they have taken from Jerome’s Keywords .

Remember they do not get paid per download unless on the rare occasion the plugin requires pre-purchase. Whereas the majority of WordPress plugins are completely free to use. Donations and tips are present on the download sites but I wonder how many of us have given a contribution to express our appreciation for the benefits they have given us through their hard work!
I have noted that some plgins once installed display a ‘Reward the Author’ link when you go to view or edit from the admin panel.

border=”0″/>
Yikes!
This would be just as difficult and cumbersome as going into admin and manually changing every post to a redirect in my HTACCESS file. The result of which would seriously slow down my sites page load times. Imagine making just one typo error, my whole domain would go down. For those who don’t know, just one mistake or missed typed url (htp:// instead of http://) URL or character in a HTACCESS file can bring your whole site OFFLINE.
Now with WordPress version 2.2+ redirection of changed Permalinks is BUILT-IN to the blogging software.
Phew!
This new feature came just in time as not too long ago I changed my Permalink structure (during November 2007) from the default setting to POSTID and POSTNAME.
Default settings => http://www.miriadz.com/blog/?p=39
Using the default Permalinks structure your potential web site visitors have absolutely no clue as to what the article content would entail so after considerable thought I elected the postname and post number.
I know many people have opted to use “Postname” only Permalinks for their WordPress blogs but after reading the literature from the codex:
Using only %postname%
“If you use postname as the only element in your permalinks to create a structure such as example.com/post-title, the rewrite rules may make it impossible to access pages such as your stylesheet (which has a similar format) or the /wp-admin/ folder [is this true in Wordpress 2.0+ versions?]. It’s best to include some numeric data (e.g. the post ID or date) in the permalink to prevent this from happening. Additionally, WordPress v1.2.x requires the use of a date structure in order for some features, such as the calendar, to function properly. /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ is always a good start.”
Source: WordPress Codex
I just didn’t want to tempt fate. Best to be safe than sorry in a few months time or so!
WordPress Database BackUp
I just log into my web hosting account to use CPanel and quickly back up all of my databases for WordPress and other scripts now so I am not going to install this plugin. I know that after Skippy moved away from WordPress to other venture there has is a new plugin, BackUpWordPress.
Conclusion
Overall I’m glad I chose WordPress as a blogging platform but this hasn’t always been the case. With past upgrade issues and having to remove so many plugins due to compatibility issues or the authors leaving ship as they have had enough from the barrage of upgrades, theme break issues to name a few. Well I’ve done my fair share of cursing the day I installed a blog let alone several blogs I and my family use. However I do appreciate the automatic updates that appear in admin to let you know about the latest version of any plugin.
I haven’t personally tried this yet but I will for the next upgrade. At least that way there shouldn’t be too much disruption to site visitors. But as you already know with upgrading you never know what may happen!!
Take good note of the few listed plugins that are compatible with each other, in other words, when they are both activated there will be problems. Deleted old files that are no longer compatible or I don’t any more. It has been known that old or obsolete version of WordPress could make your blog or site vulnerable open to hacker acttacks.

How To Do Blog Marketing With Trackbacks
Many people start up blogs believing that just being online will send them hoards of visitors and instant success. But the truth is there is much more to blogging than this myth suggests. On the issue of linking and ‘trackbacks‘ a lot of people do not fully understand the power of trackbacks.
Trackbacks are when you Write up a post and place a link to another blog from your site, or comment on a blog that link back to each other. As long as trackbacks are enabled on the
destination blog your link will be viewed by the webmaster or editor and they will decide whether to accept or delete your link. Just think of trackbacks as an instant notification between web sites for which link backs are produced.
Done correctly your links to another webmasters blog will become a permanent link back
to your site!
To help you understand more about how to do Blog Marketing With Trackbacks take a look at Jack Humphries video below or at YouTube.

Top Tips
Don’t use Spam as you’ll be wasting your time posting links that will more than
often be irrelevant to the post your link will show up on.
Visit the web site to have a look at the content to see whether you can add a
‘comment of value’ or appreciation of the subject matter.
Never put a long list of your sites with no content with the objective of getting link backs. Not that any sane editor will approve your link anyway!
Use common sense, get to know the webmasters style of writing and make regular
comments to get noticed and gain their respect. Frantic requests displaying words like ‘Please check out my site’ will be deleted!
Besides the majority savvy of bloggers use Askimet to nuke
those automated Spam message in the bud before they hit the blogosphere. So these messages NEVER get seen by a human being!
I’m sure you can think of many more tips to help you with your linking strategies. Feel free to suggest some more.

Are You Using Ebay’s Classified Ads Site?
Ebay have recently launched their own classified as site that is sure to be a hit for this HIGH TRAFFIC shopping site. I myself take it for granted when I use Ebay as one of my top three sites for searching for bargains. I have purchased many gifts and household items at Ebay for well below the sky high prices of retail shops.
Recently EBay launched its US classified ads site Kijiji.com, I know. what an unusal name to come up with. For us in the UK we have Gumtree.com, a little easier on the tongue to pronounce.
There’s so much to see and do here and its all FOR FREE!!
We have also seen sites like FaceBook launching classifieds ads which I am seriously losing into for my own benefit.
NEVER before can you say that you have no way to advertise your site and business.
The wealth of FREE classified ad placements and social networking sites makes self-promotion so much more easily accessible than ever before.
There is an abundance of opportunities so seize them, but use them wisely so that you keep within the TERMS of each classified ad site!!
Just a few days ago I received a message from someone using MojoPages “good hardwood floor installer in Del Mar, CA area”. This is not my area of expertise; however I am working on a way I can direct him to the right place to get help. You never know what may become of giving people honest reviews and feedback. Reciprocation is powerful medium so I may well hear back from him and other users over time.
Social networking and classified ads rock as far as I’m concerned.
Head on down to Ebay Classifieds and take a look around today.

How NOT To Request Reciprocal Links
How NOT To Request Reciprocal Links!
At some time or another you may find that other web sites are asking for reciprocal link requests.
Link building is just one of many ways to improve your ranking due to people being able to find your site on other locations on the Internet.
Think of in-bound links as portals pointing back to your site where visitors will come.
OK, so you do some research and you look for sites that match your content then you email the web site owner via their contact details on-site.
I take this matter personally and would believe many other webmasters would too.
Here’s my suggestion as what NOT to do to make FIRST contact.
1. Bypass the "contact us" page and use the WHOIS email address.
The contact us page is there for a reason.. TO MAKE CONTACT! The Whois information is primarily for your domain registration. Probably one of the main reasons more people use Private Domain Registration!
2. Ask ambiguous questions because you have not bothered to look over the site for detailed information.
Take the time to go through some web pages within the web site. What is the point if you can’t be bothered to have look?
3. Don’t ask to put a link on a page that has NO reciprocal links.
Don’t tell a website owners to put your link on a specific page, especially a web page with NO OTHER reciprocal links. You will not only risk annoying the site owner and will seldom get a reply back.
**Some ideas of what to ask a company before they seek out links for your site(s).**
1. Ask them not to contact webmasters through the WHOIS records. Instruct them to seek out the on-site contact form, email address or support desk.
Don’t bypass the available contact methods. This shows that you couldn’t be bothered to check the basics before making a formal enquiry.
2. Ask them to check for a reciprocal links directory or links page.
This question may seems like common sense but if you don’t ask… If the site has an automated links directory then that is the preferred method of adding link requests.
3. Ask them for a sample of the initial contact email they will be using on your behalf.
Know exactly what terminology will be used and make amendments where necessary. The results of which could have a lasting affect on your reputation.
What I find tiresome about delegating work to someone else is finding out the hard way that there are questions to be asked that may not be immediately apparent.
You’re best course of action is to brainstorm a list of the things you want done and don’t be reluctant to ask as many questions as necessary.
If you’re paying for a service make sure YOU know exactly what tasks are being performed and gather as much information about how they will carry out the work.
Get EXACTLY what pay for. Not what you THINK you are paying for!
How do you know what to ask if you didn’t know it was an issue?
We learn by trial and error. Things are seldom as straight forward as they seem!
If you have a similar experience or would like to share you ideas and thoughts on paying for links do add your comments.
Best of luck,

Guest Article: Are We Internet Marketers Abusing/Ruining The Web?
Are we internet marketers abusing/ruining the web?
By Mike Mograbi
Why am I asking this now?
Just read a post by Larry Foster on HowToCorp forum about Tag&Ping,
where he says: "It seems already that abuse is the prescribed
method of utilizing this method. From what I understand, this will
go by the wayside of blog and ping. I have seen predictions that
this could last anywhere from only a short time to 8-9 months. We
have a saying where I live. ‘Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered’
I have a feeling that the hogs will find a way to bring about the
rapid demise of another great method."
http://www.howtocorp.com/cgi-bin/webbbs_config.pl/read/55687
(Important Note: Larry and I are not accusing anyone selling
information about Tag & Ping of abusing this method. Tag & Ping is
a great internet marketing method. As far as I understand, Larry is
talking about some people who are going to abuse it.)
Every time there is something new, some/many internet marketers
work on ruining it for all others. Some do it because they are
ignorant (they simply don’t know they are causing damage), others
do it because they are greedy and the hell with everyone else.
Examples are too many to list.
Here’s one: Google AdSense. Many internet marketers have
over-polluted the web with a zillion cheap (and I mean CHEAP
looking with cheap content) AdSense sites. Sites that are filled to
the brim with AdSense ads; right, left, up, down, forward,
backward, inside, outside, and in all 4 dimensions.
Google AdSense. How should it be? It’s a very simple formula. You
have a quality website. Targeted traffic comes to your site to
benefit from your content and they click on Google Ads. You benefit
and the advertisers also benefit.
I haven’t done any research on what I’m going to say now (for
verification), but personally I doubt very much that advertisers
getting a click on their Google Ads by a visitor coming from a
cheap site are going to benefit as much as a click on their Google
Ads by a visitor coming from a quality site (like About.com, a high
quality site, which I heard makes 8 figures a month from AdSense.
Not sure if this is true or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised and I
wish them all the best).
I have personally created one site for the purpose of making money
with AdSense. I mean it was created just for that purpose. The
focus was making money with AdSense. It’s bringing in Over $20 a
day, but I don’t think I ever want to create a website JUST FOR THE
PURPOSE of making money with AdSense again.
I’m beginning to think more and more of Advertisers, and what is
the best way for them to benefit from Google Ads showing up on my
sites.
I think I need a professional and ethical internet marketer (Ken
McCarthy? David Frey?) to write a report or a book on that. The
focus would not be how to make money with AdSense by getting the
click.
The focus would not be on the click. The focus would be, how to
make the advertiser get the most from his ads that(s)he’s paying
money for. Yes, that’s like getting the click, but in some ways,
you would want to make sure that the most qualified people are
making those clicks.
In short, I want to think of those Ads as if they were my own.
I’ve been thinking and re-thinking about internet business/internet
marketing, and what would be the right/best way to do things.
I’ve been thinking more and more of my site visitors and of
advertisers.
No doubt, I want to make money online, and lots of it, using Google
AdSense and other ways. I’m just saying that the WAY I want to make
that money must be 100%WIN (Advertiser) - 100%WIN (Customer/site
visitor) - 100%WIN (Me).
Creating many AdSense sites is not a black or white thing. If one
can do it and build quality sites with QUALITY INFO and quality
graphics that would be awesome. It’s possible to do that but not
easy and not without some good $ investment.
Back to Tag & Ping and other internet marketing methods.
I think greed and impatience (to make money) are the two main
reasons for all the junk, pollution and abuse we have on the web.
These cannot be eliminated.
So… what is the best way to benefit the most from internet
marketing methods, when (some) others use every unethical way
imaginable to beat you in the game?
This is one question that professional/ethical internet marketers
should get together to answer for all of us.
Mike Mograbi
Internet Marketing Newswatch
P.S. I’d like to restate that I’m not accusing anyone in particular
of ruining/abusing the web. I wrote this message to get you thinking
about all this so you and I can work on improving ourselves to
become more ethical and professional.
- = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = -
From what I have seen online almost each and every new software tends to be marketed to others who in turn either use the technology wisely to benefit themselves or go crazy and churn out anything they can in order to make a fast buck. Take for instance the ‘Blog and Ping Method’. So over used that the search engines soon caught on to the emergence of this new blatant form of Spam. Think about it did those people who set automatic pings every 15 minutes day in and out have sufficient and good quality content?
Even as far as search engine optimization. A highly respected online news agency’s SEO team used large blocks of invisible text to boost their keywords and traffic to their site.
Did they really need to do this and didn’t they know these tactics were not ethical?
The only way forward is for each and everyone of us to take charge of what we do online whether we were TOLD or instructed to do so by a GURU or not. You’ll find yourself struggling with the dilemma of who is telling you the right stuff that won’t get you BANNED, DE-INDEXED or loose you your publishing accounts such as Google AdSense or other contextual ad networks.
Due diligence MUST be used for everything you do online. A good place to ask questions about ethics and morals is to participate in discussion boards/forums. You can network with others and learn a lot about many aspects of running a business online.
Long term organic search engine optimization and original content added on a regular basis are just some of the best ways to maintain a good steady flow of traffic to your site.
You may want to share your own thoughts and experiences on this matter. If so I welcome your comments.

Is Your Blog At Blogger.com Missing In Action?
Today I received a personal message from Liz Sherwood regarding the sudden disappearance of many blogs hosted at Blogger.com.

"Do you know if your Blogger blogs are still up?
I wouldn’t say this is a Red alert just yet, but I wanted to give
you a heads up on reports that are starting to come in on Blogger.
Several friends and miners have started seeing their Blogger blogs
not only being dropped from the listings, but pulled from the web
entirely. As in, here one day and wiped off the face of the Net
the next. Good thing we keep backups!
One guy lost all 20 of his blogs and several of those were travel
logs - extremely original material. Google told him that his
content was not Google material, if you can believe that. If a
travelogue isn’t blog material, then it’s the end of the world as
we know it.
Some other people have their blogs and AdSense account on review
and they are waiting for the fall out.
I’ve taken a good look at their sites. These were high quality,
content sites. Not those ugly splogs that are cropping up
everywhere. We don’t have enough reports to form a complete
pattern and I hope that it stops right here. But I wanted to give
you a heads up so you could get yourself in position now if your
Blogger blogs get pulled.
So what can you do? If you are relying on Blogger blogs for your
feeder blogs, then it might be time to start learning WordPress or
some other blog system. We know how Google cracks down on AdWords,
but if they start attacking the blogs on a regular basis (and I’m
betting that they will due to splogs - spam blogs), then you want
to have a backup so that you don’t lose all your traffic at once.
If you are running splogs on Blogger, then you might want to get
the heck out of Dodge before you lose your AdSense account
entirely. I wouldn’t recommend setting up shop again either.
Splogs do not add to the beauty of the world and they will only
help you for a limited time. The search engines are onto them.
Like I said, it’s not time to panic yet, but I’m always telling you
to diversify the ways your get traffic. If you are relying on
Blogger for your blogs, this could be a very good time to diversify
your blogs as well!
Cheers,
Liz"

It would be prudent to host your blog on your own domains using reliable blogging software such as the WordPress. Especially as Google appear to be less indiscriminate ain their decisions to pull blogs from blogger.com.
You MUST also back up your database for each of your blogs which can be done quickly and efficiently with Skippy’s ‘WordPress Database Backup‘ plugin that will post your back up to your email address. I use this plugin for all my family of blogs and copy the back up file to disc from my Gmail account.
I really love these programmers who provide such valuable rich software for us to use for our blogs. Can’t imagine what I would do without them.

WordPress Plugin Anti Spam Image To Prevent Spam Comments
Hello all!
Thanks to you guys who sent me a message about my grand attempt to add my own scrolling text message to yesterdays post. I added more code than needed but all is well know.
Ah well I told you I’m no programmer but I do get a little over zealous with new stuff.
I have added a new plugin "Anti Spam Image" to all of my growing family of blogs to help fight against Spam. All that is required is for you to type in the code from the image code and voila you’re comments are online in real-time. No more waiting for me to moderate. I hope this will work out better. I chose the easy to install cc from WordPress plugins because it is quick simple and efficient. I DO love WordPress as a blogging platform it’s so versatile and even I can add code. Well sometimes
P.S.
I know some people use alternative plugins such as Askimet and Spam Karma but after reading some of the problems faced by other bloggers with Spam still getting through and their blogs going offline I though it wise to us this simple tool. Let me know how you feel about it as I’d really appreciate your feedback.
