Further to my post on Google Video Ads for the US, Japan and Canada market, some feedback has been provided via iZachy. He is not satisfied that in order to get click through earnings end users will have to click on the advertisers URL to earn credits and not for clicking on the ‘play’ button.

Unlike text and image ads publishers receive credit for clicks on the ads, whereas no credit is gained just for viewing the video which may is not as attractive prospect for publishers. It also appears to be no way to select from image ads and video ads.

Advertisers are right in feeling that they risk potential loss of earnings in comparison to the text and image ads, which generate earnings per click. I wonder if this is a way for Google to ensure the maximum effectiveness of each Video Ad to benefit the advertisers and prevent confusion over the distinguishing a Google Video Ad from an ordinary streaming video and lower the risk of inflating ad prices. Although you could argue that the prevalence of the ‘Google Ad’ link should suffice. What remains is the balance between watching a video to ‘acting’ on what you have viewed to decide whether to click on the embedded URL link to be taken to the web site.

Read through the Google’s Video Ad FAQ’s to find out more about the current service.

I also read an article speculating that Google may expand their video ads to television network which would bring Google’s global reach to ordinary people who may not have access to a computer. It will be similar in impact to the Ebay advertisements and growing number of ‘Dot Com’ web sites using television to draw a wider audience to their products and services.

Google Launches Their ‘Click To Pay’ Video Ads

Today Google announced the launch of its Video Ads, which has officially out of beta testing. These Video Ads will appear as a static image on a web page [similar to Google Video] which visitors will have to click on to view the presentation. This make them non intrusive to site viewing and will keep in control of their online experience, rather than auto starting the video upon entering a web page.

People love watching media as opposed to reading text. Online videos are growing in popularity amongst people of all ages and Google know how to capitalize on this and expand their current Adwords revenue in the process.

Watch out for the wave of info-products with ‘How to’s’ on how to make the most out of Google Video Ads!

It will be interesting to see whether advertisers will favor Google Video Ads over other forms of ads. Personally I find videos irresistible and am avid fan of Google Video. I look forward to the service being expanded to the UK.

I’d love to hear from you if you are fortunate enough to use the service and too find out what your conversion rates will compare to traditional Google Adwords.

Google Adwords Referral Program Goes Global

At last Google Adwords referral program has opened its door to all publishers. Previously Adwords launched its referral program for a select few locations which I previous wrote about.

I’ve begun to add my Adwords buttons to my sites, as you can see in my above in my header. If you already have an Adsense Publisher account all you need to do is log in and select ‘Referrals’ where you will see the new ‘Adwords’ promotional banners and buttons.

Thanks to Jensense for her heads up as I had not looked into the referrals section for a few days now.

Google Adwords Learning Center: 123 Guide to Adwords

Adwords Learning Center Tests

Google have put fun into its Adwords Learning Center. Now you can take the test through their helpful ‘quizzes’ in order to test your knowledge of the system. You may think you know all there is as a budding Adwords Advertiser. Take a look around and get the facts quickly and simpler than ever before.

Another clever strategy to make Adwords more accessible and attractive to new clients. I never thought I’d be so tense whilst doing a quiz because I like to think that I know it all. Yes, I know sounds like I’m on an ego trip but I couldn’t help it.

How did you score?

Choose from the interactive Multimedia lessons or try the text based quiz tests at Google Adwords Learning Center.

You’re never too old to learn and learning can sometimes be fun!

New Adwords Referral Program For Selected Countries

Google Adwords have launched a referral program for selected countries. Affiliates can earn $20 for each new Adwords referral provided they have spent a minimum of $100 on advertising within 90 days of joining.

The new Adwords affiliate program is currently available in the following countries:

I agree with JenSense that Google’s intentions is to increase the number of Adwords advertisers from these specific countries before making the referral program available to the rest of us. In the long term the expansion and growth within the European market will provide a substantial increase in advertising revenue for Google. Let’s hope the wait will be short and they increase the qualifying peroid as they have done with the Adsense referral program.

It would be good to hear about the success of the program within time. If you are participating in the Adwords referral program and would like to share your experiences within the coming months feel free to bookmark this post and leave your comments.

Google Adsense Referral Program Extends From 90 - 180 Days

Good news for Adsense referral program as Google has officially extended the time limit from 90 to 180 days for a new Adsense publisher to earn $100 in Adsense earnings before the originating affiliate could claim their $100 commission. This is a welcome for us all. Previously I and many others were quite dubious as to why there was such a short time frame for a ‘newbie’ Adsense Publisher to accrue $100.

Maybe hereafter there will be more interest in joining the program but I am yet to see the results. Problogger notes that there is apparently no official policy update as yet.

Anyone who would like to join the free program can click on the link to the top right of my blog.

Google To Acquire dMarc Broadcasting - Plans For Radio Advertising For Adwords Clients

Google Acquires dMarc - Press Release

Google’s recent press release confirms their plans to acquire dMarc Broadcasting. The company dMarc Broadcasting connects its clients to radio media comprising of thousands of radio stations across the US through automated systems making radio advertising much simpler and cheaper for advertisers.

Google looks set to work on proposals to provide a new ad distribution channel for Google AdWords clients. It appears that Google has no limits to the extent to which they will be able to reach a wider community of advertisers and growing customer base as Google extends its reach into radio advertising media. It will be interesting to see the developments and beta testing of the proposed new ad service. I wonder what sort of pricing structure they will have and if it will be out of reach for many Google Adwords users!

Google’s My Client Center & Analytics - What They Mean To You

Google have been very busy with their range of services aimed at giving account holders better reporting and tracking facilities through services such as Google’s  ‘My Client Center’ and Google Analytics.
So what is My Client Center and who is it for?

"In response to advertiser feedback, Google AdWords offers a powerful tool for handling multiple AdWords accounts: My Client Center (MCC). MCC allows support for large advertisers with multiple AdWords accounts and third-party agencies, such as search engine marketers (SEMs), search engine optimizers (SEOs), and automated bid managers (ABMs), who manage and optimize multiple AdWords accounts.
With MCC, client managers can:

Easily view up to 1,000 linked AdWords accounts, including other client manager accounts, via the My Client Center view.

See relevant information for all linked AdWords accounts in one place.
Run reports across multiple client accounts at once or download the client "dashboard" into a .csv file.
Use a single login to access all AdWords accounts.
Create AdWords accounts and link them to this master account
".

Now this may not apply to everyone because I suspect that most Adwords accounts holders will be individuals working for themselves. However this information is useful to know for anyone wanting to keep up to date with the evolving technologies and added functionality to Google’s current services.

If you use Adwords you will see the extra tab ‘Analytics’ beside ‘Report’ etc. It is run by invitation only and is currently on hold as the demand has been overwhelming. You can view a web form requesting entry of an ‘invitation code’ and below is an email sign up form to announce when more accounts are available to you.

Darren Rowse People who have been reporting back on the data have had mixed views on the usefulness of the service. Valerio Di Giampietro shares his findings:-

Generally people have been impressed with the breakdown of
- Daily visits, page views and trends
- Returning and new visitors
- Referrals (who send traffic to my site)
- Geographic location of visitors
- Browser version (on my site Firefox is the most popular)
- Connection speed

Whereas other users complained that it is too condensed to understand and that they have enough tasks to check on a regular basis.

Some people are happier with their current web stats and prefer the interface over Analytics.

Have you had a chance to use the service and do you think it will beneficial to Google account holders in general.

I’m sure that in the future as more people report back to Google that they will improve and enhance key elements to best serve the needs of their clients.
