Is Your Blog Worth Five Million Dollars?
Can You Really Make Money From Blogging
I finished listening to a brilliant podcast interview from Yaro Starak with seven figure Australian blogger, Alborz Fallah. You can gather a lot of great tips from how a regular blogger turned a hobby into a hugely successful million dollar business. Alborz went from writing about his passion for luxury cars as a hobby to employing regular content writers and attracting high profile investors to make him a extremely generous seven figure annual income through his Car Advice blog ( I love the slick template design).
Yaro Starak is renowned for his own blogs, namely Entrepreneurs Journey and his Blog Mastermind course. Now Yaro doesn’t presume that everyone who takes the course will become wildly successful overnight, or be in the same earning league as himself or Alborz Fallah. However the valuable content and education you will gain makes this course a superb bargain.
Who Is This Blog Mastermind Course Suited For?
Serious bloggers who want to take their hobby to the next level so that they can develop and grow their own blog into a revenue earner. Maybe you have a blog already and are not seeing the results you had hoped for. Or you may need to establish your blog as an authority in your niche and want to help kick start your business to success.
Visit Yaro Starak’s blog to listen to a recording of the interview. You also have the option to download the MP3 file, which is what I did to listen to at my convenience. Oh yes, you should definitely take a sneak peak at how Yaro makes money down at the Entrepreneurs Journey blog in his revealing two part video presentation.

7 Ways To Promote New Content On Your Website
7 Ways To Promote New Content On Your Website
by Steve M Nash
Welcome to the never-ending world of website promotion.
Never ending? Well, not only must you promote your site when you first create it, but then you must find ways to continue to promote it.
And you must find ways to promote the site’s new content too.
This article covers seven ways you can promote this new site content. It assumes that you understand the basics of website promotion.
It also assumes that you have already done the following to promote your new content:
* Linked to the new content from your home page, site map, newsletter confirmation page, newsletter welcome message etc.
* Created (and used) a new email signature file
* Written a press release.
You have? Okay, let’s begin.
1) Tell Your E-Mail Subscribers
Tell the subscribers (or customers) on your mailing list about your new site content. This is an easy first step to take to promote a site redesign (or to promote new pages on your site).
Your mailing list is your best opportunity to really go into detail about the new content, especially if this new content benefits your subscribers. (It should, by the way.) If you have built a good relationship with your subscribers they might even tell you how good (or bad) the new content is. Always respond positively to this feedback.
2) Tell Your Friends, Family… Anyone
Tell friends, family and others who are in your address book. Make your email personal, and friendly, and just talk about how the new site content now benefits or involves them.
3) Tell The Newsgroups/Forums
Tell the newsgroups and online forums about your new content.
This strategy works best if you are a regular contributor to the forum or newsgroup, and if you refer to the content as part of the forum post (rather than just in the signature file). However, as long as you demonstrate your expertise with your forum contributions, and the new content is relevant, you should get visitors curious to find out more.
Again, if you focus on benefits you have a much better chance of people visiting your site.
4) Tell The Social Networks
The major search engines will find your new content as long as you link to it via your site map, and you link to this site map from your home page. Do that, then ignore the search engines.
Instead, focus on building buzz at the so-called social networking sites like digg.com, del.icio.us and Myspace.
You can encourage social bookmarking by adding appropriate bookmarking links on your site. (You’ll find such ‘add to del.icio.us’ buttons etc. on various blogs or websites or by visiting http://www.AddThis.com .)
However, if your content is outrageous or funny or particularly informative then, chances are, your new content will find its way onto these high-traffic websites anyway. It doesn’t harm to encourage this process, though.
5) Find Other Promotion Sources
Social networking sites are not the only way to promote your site.
For example, webmaster resource sites, freebie sites, and even Britney Spears and Harry Potter fanclub sites may all quite like to know about your new site content, if relevant. Whatever your site is about, there’s a site resource dedicated to it.
Use your imagination, and do a search on Google.
6) Write An Article
Writing articles is a proven method of promoting new content. And there are so many sites willing to accept well-written articles.
You don’t think you know how to write an article? Just write about what you know or do. It isn’t that difficult, and writing articles can generate lots of website traffic. To learn more, either do a search for “how to write an article” at Google or at EzineArticles.com .
7) Don’t Forget Pay-Per-Click Search Engines
Using pay-per-click (PPC) search engines is an ideal way to promote new site content.
You can either add more keywords to a current PPC campaign, driving visitors to your new pages, or you can start a new PPC campaign.
Either way, you should have traffic visiting your new content in a matter of days (or immediately, if you use Google AdWords).
These are the most popular pay-per-click search engines:
- Google Adwords
- Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly Overture)
- MSN Adcenter

That’s it, seven ways to promote new content on your website.
As I say, website promotion is never-ending; there are always more ways of promoting your site’s new content. Just make sure you do something to get people to visit your new web pages, eh!

Getting Into MySpace
Hey today’s the day when all of the pranksters come out to play so be on your guard. HAPPY APRIL FOOL’s DAY!
I just wanted to let you know that I gave gone against all of my principles and set up
a MySpace account. Like many I view MySpace and similar sites as a place where people just mess around and get in trouble at work! However after several colleagues have been boastingabout how they are making money from their collection of MySpace accounts I had to see for myself what the fuss is all about!
So far I am looking for REAL friends, people in my industry, people I know online and
of course my visitors and subscribers.
You’ll certainly recognize a few Internet and Affiliate marketers amongst my MySpace friends. So before I add a permanent link to my sidebar I wanted to cordially invite to you to addme to your MySpace friends and of course send me a “Friend Request” to be a part of my crowd too.
I will probably add a personal video or slideshow later when I find some good photos of me, friends and family so hang tight until then. For now you’ll just have to get accustomed to “The Better Half Of Me”, this slogan will make more sense once you visit my page at MySpace. One very positive aspect I have found with having and sharing my MySpace account is that I get to see some of my long term subscribers who have added themselves as friends. Normally I don’t bother to add an image of myself online but I guess people really do like to see you in photo or video.
Do you think we are getting more voyeuristic and narcistic with Web 2.0 sites online?
Well I don’t like looking at myself too often unless I’m brushing my teeth.
What do you think?
I remember Mark Wielgus talking about how more bloggers should do video to reveal themselves to their readers or at least make their own videos for content and to boost their SEO. Mark’s personal view is that text only blogs can become dull and he prefers to watch video blogs or listen to podcasts, especially if he has been a long term subscriber.
I personally enjoy reading articles with the occasional video here and there but long
audios I hate unless it’s a Teleseminar. Anyone who rambles on for a length of time is
mind numbing for me so I’m not into podcasts, even though they are extremely popular and good from a marketing perspective.
Even popular bloggers do not have a photo of themselves on their blogs in the “About Us” section like DoshDosh but for me it’s the content that counts. Besides maybe some people look so bad it would be a crime to reveal themselves. I do like caricatures of people and have seen everything from Homer Simpson to Jessica Alba on avatars.
What are your thoughts on photos, videos and audio over text based blogging?

6 Quick Ways To Promote Your Web Site For Free
6 Quick Ways To Promote Your Web Site For Free
6 Quick Ways To Promote Your Web Site For Free
by Nancy P Redford (c) All Rights Reserved Worldwide.
Demystifying the nay-sayers who would have you believe that free advertising is of less value than paid advertising. The truth is free doesn’t necessarily equate to poor quality. For instance viral advertising is a powerful free marketing tactic. One popular viral marketing strategy is the “Tell a Friend” form used to encourage others to share and pass on your web site URL and content with others who will also share it with more friends. This can go on to create potentially huge viral marketing campaign.
Well with that said here are 6 quick ways in which you can effectively promote your web site for free.
1. Submit to Online Directories
Look for Internet directories and list your site to relevant and high traffic directories. This is one of the easiest and most effective free web site promotion tactics. One example is Dmoz
2. Marketing With Forums
One reason why forums are created is for free web site promotion for everyone to share ideas and tips within as a part of the community. You should share your expertise and help others. Don’t blatantly advertise. Use a signature file to place a sentence and in time you attract instant visitors who will click on your web site link. Make sure you have an opt-in form so you can capture their email address as they subscribe to receive your newsletter. Just do a search for forums in your niche.
3. Write a Press Release
Release your creative writing skills by preparing a well written press release that advertises your site. This is a free web site promotion tactic that you can do anytime. Send your press release to free submission sites. Before you prepare your press release go to PRWEB to view their tips for preparing a successful new release.
4. Make New Contacts Using Web 2.0
Free web site promotion means using social networks if done right can help to bring free traffic to your site. You will need to give to something of value to your contacts like information or tips to help them with their business. Build your credibility this way and forge a continuing alliance with like minded people. This will also help to build trust and people will be curious enough to click through you links to view your web site. One example is Facebook
5. Submit Articles To Article Directories
Article marketing can help you to rank well in the search engine without the need to pay for Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. Using high ranking authority article directories such as Ezine Articles you can quickly establish your expertise. The key to making your article work effectively to attract free traffic to you site is your author resource box positioned at the end of the article. This is where you’ll provide details of your business by adding your URL link. It is a good idea to link to a squeeze page or landing page in order to get people to sign up to your mailing list.
Using this simple tactic will help get you more traffic and build your mailing list of prospects whom you can contact on a regular basis.
6. Create and Distribute Online Videos
Create simple videos using free Windows Movie Maker which comes with ready installed with all Windows Operating systems. Or do a search for free video software or “free screen capture video” for an alternative. You can use screenshots and text as content for your video. If you want to feature yourself in the video then you can use a digital camera to record yourself and upload the saved recording onto your computer.
Once you have completely your video submit to YouTube and other popular video sharing sites. To save time and submit to several video sites I highly recommend using TubeMogul.

5 Critical Promotion Mistakes People Make With Articles
11 Reasons Why Facebook Rocks
Todays guest article is brought to by Tinu Abayomi-Paul of Free Traffic Tip.
Facebook, at its most basic level, is what it sounds like. In the olden days
before the Internet, when I was just a wee girl, a facebook was a book with
photographs in it, meant to help people on campus get to know each other,
from alumni and staff to students and teaching faculty. If you know someone
on Facebook, that’s reason enough to join.
Yes, like AOL was, it is a “walled garden”, meaning it’s a closed network
where the general public can’t see what you’re up to - you have to be a
member to get beyond faces, or to interact with the faces you see.
Sometimes, privacy is a good thing, yes?
People present a different side to themselves when the doors are closed,
when they can control who is observing what they do.
And this is what is wonderful about Facebook. You get to know people on a
more personal level than you would with email. You can learn what their
interest are, and see how they interact. I’ll get into more details about
the tools in Facebook that actually make this possible later on.
Right now, here’s a quick list of what makes Facebook the place to be right
now.
1. You can be yourself more, and still be professional.
There are ways to say things on Facebook that aren’t exactly risqué, but
that you wouldn’t put on your blog, either, due to audience conflicts or
content compatibility issues.
2. It’s easier and faster to get to know people you admire.
There are many people whose content I enjoy, that I’d like to get to know
better, in a deeper way than commenting on their blog would allow, but is
not as intrusive as random emailing or calling them on the phone out of the
blue.
Facebook allows me to find and talk to those people, and soak up a whole
different batch of their wisdom than the public at large gets to see.
So if you find out that someone you admire is on Facebook and they aren’t
yet overwhelmed with noise, get on and Friend them before their list goes
over 100 - that seems to be the point at which the noise has the potential
to overwhelm the signal.
3. It helps you establish common ground to facilitate deeper bonds when
networking.
You have a lot more leverage to introduce yourself to someone if you
participated in several of the same discussions and are interested in the
same things. With a blog you have a fleeting connect until someone comments
repeatedly.
I mean, honestly, how many blogs do you visit every single day, of the ones
that are in your reader?
Facebook has a system that reminds me to care for and feed my relationships
with people in a way that a blog doesn’t. When you bump into someone enough
within this reminder system, you’ll want a way to connect to each other more
often.
4. It’s intimate.
This point can’t be overstated. Facebook feels like a bunch of small
gatherings, even when there’s a conversation in a big group taking place
among hundreds of people.
This makes people feel comfortable, when they’re comfortable they relax,
when they relax, they’re more open. Meeting colleagues, potential clients
and your favorite gurus is a completely different experience than when you
meet them in a more public part of the Net - for better or for worse, you’ll
often get the most accurate version of a person you can online.
5. Facebook friends are more likely to help spread your content.
In the past week that I’ve been more active than usual on Facebook, I’ve
been included in Scoble’s linkblog, which led to getting on the first page
of Sphinn.
I didn’t even know he read my content, we’re really only Facebook and
Twitter friends, it’s not like I know the guy, though Facebook makes it feel
like I do.
I also have had more of my other content either replied to or submitted to
social news sites by people not on my team than in just about any other
community I’ve ever participated in.
6. You can display your expertise instead of just talking about it.
It’s one thing to get compliments by peers, or to be published in a
prestigious online publication because of something you wrote - in fact, it’s
a great thing. A wonderful enhancement to that is when a potential client
sees you edified by one of your peers. It’s extremely powerful, because it
happens in real time.
7. Many of the activities you flit around the Web doing can be accessed from
within Facebook, which can help organize and simplify your day.
I can Twitter, Jaiku, share blog posts I like, and do a LOT of other social
media related things that are imperative to my business from within
Facebook. Of course, I don’t need to have Facebook to do this. It just makes
it easier and more fun.
So what happens to me when Facebook is down? The same thing that happens to
me when Google is down. I don’t rely on Google for ALL my traffic, and in
the same way I don’t rely on Facebook for access to my friends, social
networking, etc. The part of the online world that gets pulled into Facebook
is still retained on the outside of the garden - ie, I can still Twitter
from the Twitter page if I like.
8. Facebook brings you 30 million potential people for you to market to -
Without Necessarily Actively Marketing to Them.
Facebook is not a place to spam your link and people who do are mostly
ignored, and occasionally chastized. Yet, even though I have not done one
single thing to market myself on Facebook, I’ve got a whole new audience
stream from it.
No, really, besides doing the best three things that can get people from my
Facebook profile to my web page, I have done zero marketing on Facebook -
and yes, there are ways to market on Facebook besides networking, I just
haven’t used any of them.
And yet I get constant traffic.
9. It feels like a fun waste of time but it can actually double as highly
productive time spent on your online business.
I know I don’t have to explain to you why feeling like you’re goofing off,
when you’re growing your business, is a good thing.
10. The additional stream of traffic I get to my blog from Facebook is more
interactive.
With only 52 friends and one network able to see my full profile - the
people who come here from there are more likely to reply to posts, and they
leave deep conversations responses. Makes sense when you think about it -
traffic from a more interactive community is more likely to… um… interact.
11. .You’ll find all kinds of long lost friends.
There are people I haven’t heard from, literally since college that I found
again through Facebook. It made my eyes mist up to see some of them around
again, and doing well. That’s the best present I could ever get from being
online and it was totally free.
