Blogs are easy to maintain and add content to and most of all the search engines love them.

So why stop at using your blog as a pastime or hobby when you can earn a good living online with them.

Have You Set Up Your Amazon aStore Yet?

My thoughts on the Amazon’s new aStores [Beta] for their current affiliate program.

One thing I liked about it is how quick and easy is to set up. Unlike the time it takes to use the ‘Build Links‘ feature for single product searches which require separate codes for each individual product then to having to insert each section of code into your HTML pages. The shortest code in Amazon link history!

Another problem I have with Amazon is the payout rate of only 4% average. I know they have put in performance related commission incentives to get many more affiliates to use non book items so that other categories get publicized. Some people have mixed views on how much they could realistically make as an Amazon affiliate.

On the other hand there are an elite few who claim to make a nice sum from their sales. Maybe sites that a have a focus on products from Amazon are better performers such as Steve Nash who has a super home shopping site. Yep he’s also from the UK. He has set up his own style of links which look more professional than standard Amazon links.

I was intrigued at how John Jantsch has integrated his own site header and footer so that visitors can easily return back to his site without the need to open new browser window. I’m not that proficient with coding so I have opted for a stand alone Amazon aStore much like Darren Prowse who has also discussed the service.

Makes good housekeeping for my blog as I only need to ad a short link to the store for featured products instead of listing each item one by one. Quick, fast, and simple to complete. Go Amazon go!

Like all affiliate products it is ALWAYS best if you have the flexibility to be able to integrate your own sites ‘look and feel’ to blend with your site as you would for AdSense or other programs. This creates a more aesthetically pleasing design.

Unfortunately there is no easy option to host aStore at your own web site. All stores remain on the Amazon domain and unless you’re savvy with iframe type coding. Maybe they will change this after results from Beta testing and feedback from affiliates.

If you haven’t joined Amazon Associates then do so right away and begin setting up your own Amazon aStore.

If you have had a chance to use the aStore what do you think?

I’d be happy to feature your own aStore especially if you have been successful at integrating the code into your site!

Guest Article: Are We Internet Marketers Abusing/Ruining The Web?

Are we internet marketers abusing/ruining the web?

By Mike Mograbi

Why am I asking this now?

Just read a post by Larry Foster on HowToCorp forum about Tag&Ping,
where he says: "It seems already that abuse is the prescribed
method of utilizing this method. From what I understand, this will
go by the wayside of blog and ping. I have seen predictions that
this could last anywhere from only a short time to 8-9 months. We
have a saying where I live. ‘Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered’
I have a feeling that the hogs will find a way to bring about the
rapid demise of another great method."
http://www.howtocorp.com/cgi-bin/webbbs_config.pl/read/55687

(Important Note: Larry and I are not accusing anyone selling
information about Tag & Ping of abusing this method. Tag & Ping is
a great internet marketing method. As far as I understand, Larry is
talking about some people who are going to abuse it.)

Every time there is something new, some/many internet marketers
work on ruining it for all others. Some do it because they are
ignorant (they simply don’t know they are causing damage), others
do it because they are greedy and the hell with everyone else.

Examples are too many to list.

Here’s one: Google AdSense. Many internet marketers have
over-polluted the web with a zillion cheap (and I mean CHEAP
looking with cheap content) AdSense sites. Sites that are filled to
the brim with AdSense ads; right, left, up, down, forward,
backward, inside, outside, and in all 4 dimensions.

Google AdSense. How should it be? It’s a very simple formula. You
have a quality website. Targeted traffic comes to your site to
benefit from your content and they click on Google Ads. You benefit
and the advertisers also benefit.

I haven’t done any research on what I’m going to say now (for
verification), but personally I doubt very much that advertisers
getting a click on their Google Ads by a visitor coming from a
cheap site are going to benefit as much as a click on their Google
Ads by a visitor coming from a quality site (like About.com, a high
quality site, which I heard makes 8 figures a month from AdSense.
Not sure if this is true or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised and I
wish them all the best).

I have personally created one site for the purpose of making money
with AdSense. I mean it was created just for that purpose. The
focus was making money with AdSense. It’s bringing in Over $20 a
day, but I don’t think I ever want to create a website JUST FOR THE
PURPOSE of making money with AdSense again.

I’m beginning to think more and more of Advertisers, and what is
the best way for them to benefit from Google Ads showing up on my
sites.

I think I need a professional and ethical internet marketer (Ken
McCarthy? David Frey?) to write a report or a book on that. The
focus would not be how to make money with AdSense by getting the
click.

The focus would not be on the click. The focus would be, how to
make the advertiser get the most from his ads that(s)he’s paying
money for. Yes, that’s like getting the click, but in some ways,
you would want to make sure that the most qualified people are
making those clicks.

In short, I want to think of those Ads as if they were my own.

I’ve been thinking and re-thinking about internet business/internet
marketing, and what would be the right/best way to do things.

I’ve been thinking more and more of my site visitors and of
advertisers.

No doubt, I want to make money online, and lots of it, using Google
AdSense and other ways. I’m just saying that the WAY I want to make
that money must be 100%WIN (Advertiser) - 100%WIN (Customer/site
visitor) - 100%WIN (Me).

Creating many AdSense sites is not a black or white thing. If one
can do it and build quality sites with QUALITY INFO and quality
graphics that would be awesome. It’s possible to do that but not
easy and not without some good $ investment.

Back to Tag & Ping and other internet marketing methods.

I think greed and impatience (to make money) are the two main
reasons for all the junk, pollution and abuse we have on the web.

These cannot be eliminated.

So… what is the best way to benefit the most from internet
marketing methods, when (some) others use every unethical way
imaginable to beat you in the game?

This is one question that professional/ethical internet marketers
should get together to answer for all of us.

Mike Mograbi
Internet Marketing Newswatch

P.S. I’d like to restate that I’m not accusing anyone in particular
of ruining/abusing the web. I wrote this message to get you thinking
about all this so you and I can work on improving ourselves to
become more ethical and professional.

- = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = -

From what I have seen online almost each and every new software tends to be marketed to others who in turn either use the technology wisely to benefit themselves or go crazy and churn out anything they can in order to make a fast buck. Take for instance the ‘Blog and Ping Method’. So over used that the search engines soon caught on to the emergence of this new blatant form of Spam. Think about it did those people who set automatic pings every 15 minutes day in and out have sufficient and good quality content?

Even as far as search engine optimization. A highly respected online news agency’s SEO team used large blocks of invisible text to boost their keywords and traffic to their site.

Did they really need to do this and didn’t they know these tactics were not ethical?

The only way forward is for each and everyone of us to take charge of what we do online whether we were TOLD or instructed to do so by a GURU or not. You’ll find yourself struggling with the dilemma of who is telling you the right stuff that won’t get you BANNED, DE-INDEXED or loose you your publishing accounts such as Google AdSense or other contextual ad networks.

Due diligence MUST be used for everything you do online. A good place to ask questions about ethics and morals is to participate in discussion boards/forums. You can network with others and learn a lot about many aspects of running a business online.

Long term organic search engine optimization and original content added on a regular basis are just some of the best ways to maintain a good steady flow of traffic to your site.

You may want to share your own thoughts and experiences on this matter. If so I welcome your comments.

Is Your Blog At Blogger.com Missing In Action?

Today I received a personal message from Liz Sherwood regarding the sudden disappearance of many blogs hosted at Blogger.com.

- = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = -=

Start of message=>

"Do you know if your Blogger blogs are still up?

I wouldn’t say this is a Red alert just yet, but I wanted to give
you a heads up on reports that are starting to come in on Blogger.

Several friends and miners have started seeing their Blogger blogs
not only being dropped from the listings, but pulled from the web
entirely.  As in, here one day and wiped off the face of the Net
the next.  Good thing we keep backups!

One guy lost all 20 of his blogs and several of those were travel
logs - extremely original material.  Google told him that his
content was not Google material, if you can believe that.  If a
travelogue isn’t blog material, then it’s the end of the world as
we know it.

Some other people have their blogs and AdSense account on review
and they are waiting for the fall out.

I’ve taken a good look at their sites.  These were high quality,
content sites.  Not those ugly splogs that are cropping up
everywhere.  We don’t have enough reports to form a complete
pattern and I hope that it stops right here.  But I wanted to give
you a heads up so you could get yourself in position now if your
Blogger blogs get pulled.

So what can you do?  If you are relying on Blogger blogs for your
feeder blogs, then it might be time to start learning WordPress or
some other blog system.  We know how Google cracks down on AdWords,
but if they start attacking the blogs on a regular basis (and I’m
betting that they will due to splogs - spam blogs), then you want
to have a backup so that you don’t lose all your traffic at once.

If you are running splogs on Blogger, then you might want to get
the heck out of Dodge before you lose your AdSense account
entirely.  I wouldn’t recommend setting up shop again either.
Splogs do not add to the beauty of the world and they will only
help you for a limited time.  The search engines are onto them.

Like I said, it’s not time to panic yet, but I’m always telling you
to diversify the ways your get traffic.  If you are relying on
Blogger for your blogs, this could be a very good time to diversify
your blogs as well!

Cheers,
Liz"

End of message=>

- = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = -=

It would be prudent to host your blog on your own domains using reliable blogging software such as the WordPress. Especially as Google appear to be less indiscriminate ain their decisions to pull blogs from blogger.com.

You MUST also back up your database for each of your blogs which can be done quickly and efficiently with Skippy’s ‘WordPress Database Backup‘ plugin that will post your back up to your email address. I use this plugin for all my family of blogs and copy the back up file to disc from my Gmail account.

I really love these programmers who provide such valuable rich software for us to use for our blogs. Can’t imagine what I would do without them.

Paul Kleinmeulman’s Free 7 Day Mini Course: OutSource Formula

OutSource Formula

I’ve just received a private message from Paul Kleinmeulman the go ahead and share with my readers a brand new e-course entitled "OutSource Formula". In Paul’s course he discusses some key tips and issues that can make or break your web sales if you employ the wrong practices in order to save a quick buck.

Let me explain further, issues such as using poor quality graphics or badly formatted web page designs. If you cannot create good quality graphic design then you SHOULD find a competent professional to do the work on your behalf. I know what you’re thinking… that will cost me a fair amount to hire someone to do a professional job BUT Paul shows you in his videos how he has grossed over $300,000 in a year with software and products that he didn’t make himself.

So how did he manage to acquire the software in the first place?

Well all was done by leveraging the work of others to get work done quickly and efficiently. The key to making as much profit as possible from your finished products is to hire assistants at the best price. Even Paul’s mentor John Delavera is surprised at how Paul finds such cheap labor to create high quality products for his business. The main product and video presentation can be viewed at the new site. Don’t forget to sign up for the free e-course as it will enlighten you to common mistakes many of us make online that can be solved at a price that’s right for even the tightest of budgets.

Guest Article: Making The Most of Public Domain and Private Label Content

Guest Article: Making The Most of Public Domain and Private Label Content

By Cody Moya

There’s so much public domain content available all over the internet, with Master Resale Rights available and sites springing up left and right with Private Label articles you can use to create your own products, but what do you need to bear in mind, what is the best way to use all this content and what can you create with it?

What to Look Out For:

Copyright - you absolutely must check on this - violating someone’s copyright is not clever and can be a really expensive mistake not to mention seriously damaging your reputation. Is it really public domain? All those lawyers fees can really mount up when checking into all this but believe me, you really don’t want to end up in court over it.

Public Domain Content - If you have the money to have a lawyer look at copyright for you then fine, go ahead and get started. Where can you find this type of content? It can be difficult to find content that is free to use but here are a few links to get you started:

Wikimedia.org

GPOAccess.gov

Master Resale Rights - If you can’t afford expensive lawyers what else can you do? One rather less pricey way is to buy Master Resale Rights to a product - this gives you the opportunity to name yourself as the author, use the content in another product, rewrite the whole thing - the possibilities are endless. Just be aware with this that you will need to look at the terms and conditions of what you are allowed to do with the product before you buy.

On a budget? - not to worry, there are still many ways you can find great content without spending a fortune or worrying about whether you can legally use it.

Sites such as PrivateLabelEbooks provide guaranteed public domain or private label content for a monthly fee. You could also sign up to some of the well known internet marketer’s newsletters.

Why? Well if you’re serious about internet marketing you should be checking out all the latest happenings anyway, but a lot of newsletter owners will have free ebooks, giveaways and articles to download - some of which you will be able to use as your own.

What Can You Do?

You could just read the information to learn from it yourself; you could read it to get ideas for businesses, more articles, content, the list is limited only by your imagination.

How about:

When it comes to using all the content you have gathered, you need to look through it all and decide what you want to produce. If you plan to use content from more than one source, such as 2 or 3 articles by different authors to be combined into a report, you will need to go through and change the content into a similar style, check that it is all written in the same tense, make sure the formatting is the same throughout, check for spelling and grammar (for example - spelling for some words is different in the US than the UK) and look through all the articles to see if any of the points made are duplicated.

Once you’ve done this, make a list of points you want to make in your report, read the articles through again and start combining them together to fit what you want to say - cut and paste to copy sections into the right place.

Next, look at the way your draft reads now and see if it fits your style of writing, your personality and your business. Reword it to fit with this - there’s no point in producing a very formally written, stiff sounding report for a hobby site.

At this point you could just tweak it, proof read it, and then go ahead and publish it but to take it a step further and make it really unique, why not look at how you might rewrite it so that all of the content is yours - now you’ve got the basic idea down and laid out, it shouldn’t take you long to reword things, add in some of your own ideas and keywords that fit your site, and maybe a few quotes and suddenly you’re looking at something that no-one else has got, that the search engines will love and that no-one can claim you copied.

Time to start creating!

Google Video Tips By Matt Cutts

Matt Cutts Google Videos

Have you had the opportunity to view some candid Q & A sessions by Matt Cutts in which he candidly answers questions on video and goes into more detail regarding common concerns expressed by webmasters.

Issues such as whether sitemaps what factors determine or influence the frequency of update and whether the process is dependant on page views.

Matt also suggests that you can use a text browser like Lynx to view your sites as the search engines would see your site. If you can view your site in text only format then you’re going to be easily crawled by search engine spiders.

After watching some of the videos and taking notes where necessary I felt that this was a very helpful way in which to answer personal questions for a wide audience of people. We know that Google have an growing database of ‘How To’ videos. However Matt Cutts gave the whole Q & A session a more human and personal touch and was by far a more enjoyable experience.

You need to establish a ‘hook’ in order to compels visitors come back to your site on a regular basis. This could be by signing up to your newsletter or for regularly updated content like a blog or review site.

Think about your site content and what your initial goals and objectives are and work on converting browsers into regular returning visitors.

I hope you get to view the free Google Videos and take in a tip or two to help you make the right and rational decisions for your web site. Matt makes several references to Webmaster World so to be up to date with what’s going on first hand this site is essential for your research and news reference.
