Stop Digital Product Theft

Protect Your Intellectual Property Rights

Thieves, Liars, Refund Junkies whatever you call them they are very REAL.

What am I talking about?

I’m referring to the customers who purchase your products and within 10 minutes or less they send you an email for a refund for your digital product!

Now it doesn’t matter that your ebook or information product has a 30 day or more guarantee.

That’s not good enough!

As a digital product seller this tale is all too familiar.

Has this happened to you too?

The result is they have downloaded a copy of your product and you cannot wipe a digital product from their computers so they can keep it without owing you a single dime.

I apologize for the rant BUT this really is a big problem with some dishonest customers.

Not all is lost as there is a permanent solution to this common dilemma.

Take a look at the "Digital Repo Man" video, I know it is a comical name but it addresses a very serious problem.

The best part is you can test run Digital Repo Man for a measly $1.00!

Let’s fight digital product theft and help to protect YOUR intellectual property rights. ;-)

This weekend I dropped by Circuit City to
buy a couple electronic gizmos.

While there, I noticed they had these totally
smoking hot new DVD RECORDERS.

You heard right. These puppies are not just
players.

They record!

I felt this big rush of excitement as I thought,
"Wow, this makes it brain dead simple to transfer
some of my old VHS speeches to DVD. Not to
mention the ability to record TV programs straight
to DVD.

"What’s more, I can plug my video camera right
into the front of it using the i-link (firewire)
thingy and record video straight to DVD.

How handy.

So I whipped out my debit card and snagged myself
one of ‘em.

….When I got home, the fun began.

I hooked it up. Pushed record and…

BLAMMO.

All I got was an error message saying I had to take
the DVD through set up.

I tried and tried. Couldn’t do it. To say it
wasn’t "intuitive" would be an understatement.

I took a break. Got frustrated. Decided to read
the stupid manual.

Of course, I have a cable box. And NONE of the
hook up instructions covered how to hook it up
if you had cable.

Arrggghhh!

So I go back to the store I bought it from and asked
for instructions. I bought a bunch more cords and
stuff. Hooked it up like the guy at the store said.

NOTHING.

So I actually went to a DIFFERENT store and bought
another one, planning on returning the first one.
The second one had the same exact idiot set up
screen and manual as the first one.

Different product. Same manual!

Geez Louise.

Now, I’m already missin’ more hair in the middle
of my head than I’d quite honestly prefer. But
I’m pretty sure now I’m missing even more.

‘Cause I started pulling it out!

Well, it still doesn’t work.

Why am I telling you this story? Because I went
to the bookstore and bought a book about hooking
up this kind of stuff. Didn’t solve my problem.

But what it shows is that when people have a
problem causing them aggravation, they’ll pay
to fix it. And every aggravation you have is
an opportunity to make money by selling something
that fixes the aggravation.

The other thing I can tell you is that there are
only three basic things we sell: Time, money and
energy.

Whatever you sell either saves people time, money
or energy (for example, eliminating frustration).
Or it helps the person have more of thoses things
in some way or the other.

The next time you are about to pull your hair
out, here’s what I want you to think, "Someone
is going to make a fortune by solving this
problem."

And sooner or later maybe a problem will come
along where YOU decide to be the one who
solves it and makes a fortune doing so.

THAT is how you get great ideas for your
own products.

Best wishes,

Marlon Sanders

31 Places to Monitor Your Reputation Online

Your reputation can drastically influence your customers and visitors to your site. Building credibility and trust is paramount to your success.

Do you wonder what is being said about you and your business?

Frank Gruber highlights a great post over at the Marketing Pilgrim.

"31 Places to Monitor Your Reputation Online
If you are into tracking what people might be saying about you online you might want make sure you are checking a bunch of online sources. This article lists 31 places to keep your online reputation in check."

Be careful how you use national new headlines to try and manipulate your reader’s emotions by getting them to buy your product because a celebrity has died.

The ‘Call to Action’ should not be based on emotional bribery.

By all means tell a story to engage your readers and avoid the ‘hard sell’

It’s ethical to use what some marketer’s term as ‘Psychological Triggers’ but AVOID exploitation of another individual at all costs!

Do you want to loose credibility or your valued subscribers for a fast buck or do you want to maintain your dignity at all times?

You can only draw on the conclusion that there is no genuine respect for you as a reader when these unethical practices are being thrown at you.

However, there is much to be learned by keeping an open mind and staying focused on what YOU want to achieve with your online business. Try not to imitate bad practices of others.

You may want to comment on how you feel about unethical marketing practices that you have seen online.

47 Plus Gripes, Groans and Perils of Affiliate Marketing

Here in the UK we have inches upon inches of pure soft, white snow.

For the very first time in history, well maybe a few years, our weather forecast prediction for heavy snow showers today was spot on!

No school for the kids and no school run for me.

Oh yeah!

Instead I’m just completed a mission with my two boys to build the biggest snowman EVER!

One thing I hate when it snows is the chaos it bring on the transport sytem and driving conditions.

On the other hand I can stay at home, warm, safe and snug.  Most of all I love the fun of having snowball fights.

Besides it gets the kids away from the PS2 console. :-)

Let the good times roll on!

- Moving on to the main article today.

Are you an affiliate marketer or want to promote other people’s products then read on.

If you’ve EVER wanted a chance to voice your opinions, both good and bad about Affiliate Program Managers or the main Merchant [seller of the product] then you should head on over to the Net Profits Today blog.

The last time I checked over 47 comments have been lodged by budding affiliate marketers who have faced certain dilemmas with affiliate programs.

One mentioned which I strongly agree with is the time it takes for some merchants to approve you as an affiliate. The longest wait I can remember to date is about 7 weeks.

I gave up hope after the second week and after sending at least three reminder emails.

What do you think happened after the seven weeks?

Well if they could n’t manage to comply with the 3-5 day response as stated on the application form then I wasn’t going to trust them with tracking my referrals and most important of all, paying me on time.

All is not lost because just like fish in the sea, there are plenty of affiliate programs to choose from. ;-)

Anyway have a peek at the feedback and have you say.

Two Free Keyword Research Tools

According to online speculation the very much used and adored Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool [know owned by Yahho.com] may no longer be available use to use online.

I’m very surprised at this because I and many others have been using this free research tool for many years.

In fact I sincerely hope that they will maybe add more functionality and revamp the service if it needed.

Either way the future is still bright as two other sources are at hand. :-)

The first free keyword research tool is from WordTracker.

The second free keyword research tool is from NicheBot Keyword Discovery.

I personally prefer NicheBot because it goes into much more detailed keyword research. You can take a look at the free online video to see how powerful the NicheBot service can be for your keyword researches.

Keep both services bookmarked to try them for yourself.

In fact use both of them!

Guest Article: Does Your Site Even Deserve Targeted Traffic?

Sound advice today from Jack Humphrey’s eye
opening article for anyone whether you are new
to the internet or not.

Read on and take note of this educational tips
to help you stay focused and AVOID, at all costs,
avoid being led astray. ;-)

Does Your Site Even Deserve Targeted Traffic?
Copyright By Jack Humphrey

Have you noticed how entitled some people seem
to feel about getting targeted, interested
visitors to their sites?

And have you seen some of the sites they feel
should be honored with the precious time, clicks,
and purchases from visitors?

John Reese said it all when he said most sites
on the web are junk.
(I paraphrase, but that was the gist.)

It is so true there is not a single person on
the web that would disagree.

Yet every website owner truly seems to believe
their site is worthy of top search engine
positions and hundreds of links.

The vast majority of website owners cannot
fathom that their lack of traffic could possibly
stem from the site they built and the business
model they adopted!

I joke with my clients that most sites would
get more traffic if they were parked at their
registrar with some Adsense ads on them.

What then is the problem?

People feel they can come on the web, slap up
a site, and begin reaping the same rewards that
hard working, dues paying professional site
publishers enjoy. And that has never, nor will
ever, happen on the web.

The internet is a bastion of opportunity, it’s
true. Once you get to a point in your business
where you can understand how the web works and
what motivates search engines and visitors in
any market, it’s like there are hundred dollar
bills laying a foot deep all around you for as
far as you can see.

Until then, "someone with a website" is simply
nothing. There are billions of web pages on
the internet. There are only 10 top 10 positions
in any given search engine.

In order to earn a spot on a high-traffic web
site, whether a search engine or a link partner,
people seriously have to raise the bar on what
is considered a solid content site.

If your site looks, performs, and informs nothing
like the sites you have in your own bookmark file,
how can you expect anyone to put your site in theirs?

Authority sites stand out like a bucket of fried
chicken on a fat farm.

If you don’t have the tools and know-how to create
an authority site that looks, feels, and acts like
sites that have sold for millions in the recent
past, you still have options.

None of which include you building it yourself
with FrontPage and a $3.99 a month hosting account.

Step 1: Become a student of the web, not just
someone who wants to make money and quit their
job. You will neither make enough money nor be
able to quit your job in NEARLY the timeframe
you’d like, so get over it and be nice to your
boss for awhile longer.

Learn what makes the web and the particular markets
you are interested in "tick."

Think for yourself and don’t blindly follow the
advice in ebooks written by anonymous 13 year-old
mouth-breathers who have absolutely no right to
advise anyone on building and marketing high
value sites.

Step 2: Find the right people to follow. Usually
they own some extremely high-value property on
the web and can prove their methods work.

Once you find the right people to help you
(because you are definitely not going to pull this
off on your own before you have grand kids)
unsubscribe from every "newsletter" you are
subscribed to that doesn’t fit what your personal
expert is telling you and put on your blinders.

Find a plan. Follow that plan to the end. And never
EVER let yourself get side-tracked by gimmicks,
schemes, and guys or gals trying to sell you on
a "better plan."

Step 3: Read steps 1 and 2 again and consider
them your new religion.

Jaded folks will say that I want them to ignore
everyone else and just buy from me or the people
I tell them to buy from.

Only I know for sure that it would be a damn good
start given that what I teach works.

Really the biggest reason I say put on blinders
and get to work is that the reason people fail
to make their dreams come to fruition on the web
is distraction.

The information on how to have a thriving internet
business isn’t hidden. In fact, there’s way too
much of it. And most of it is wrong for you.

Good advice stands out like that bucket of fried
chicken on a fat farm does. You can tell, if you
stay objective, who is bullshitting you and who
might just be on their game.

The first thing that happens to newbies when they
express interest in having a thriving online business
is that the vultures descend.

It is much like running away to Hollywood, getting
off the bus, and having the drug dealers, sex merchants,
and other undesirables mob you hoping to take you
into their dark underworld, pick your bones clean,
and discard you in an alley.

And you thought Tom Cruise was going to escort you
to your first sure-thing audition for a feature film?

That’s exactly the same thing as expecting life on
the web to be easy, no sweat, a walk in the park
way to start a valuable high-dollar business.

The key is to be dead serious, willing to sacrifice,
and willing to search for the truth about internet
business, content site building, and publishing
without settling for nickel and dime schemes that
feed on newbies on the way.

Free Video Tutorials For cPanel Web Hosting

If you’re web host uses the ’cPanel interface then you can use video tutorials to show you how to do these tasks and more without having to spend long hours reading through manuals.

Barbara King recommended some free cPanel videos to her newsletter subscribers that I believe will help many people get to grips with web hosting basics and more advanced procedures required to set up applications within cPanel to add functionality to their web sites.

Take a look at just some of the video tutorials on offer:
