Google Chrome Boasts Faster Loading Speeds

I was very skeptical about downloading a new web browser once after reading the announcement that Google Chrome was released for use. I already have Internet Explorer, which I do not use by choice, Safari that I accidently installed with ITunes and my all time favorite Firefox.

However I was tempted to test out Google Chrome out of sheer curiosity and due the rave reviews from some of my colleagues who revealed that it was so much faster at loading web pages, even on a DSL connection!

So I have been testing it out and behold, web pages do load so must faster. I just hope things stay that way in the future. However unlike Firefox there is an absence of plugins to provide added functionality so this may be the reason why at present web pages load faster. It will be interesting to study whether the loading speed will be compromised once plugins are made available.

I like the catchy titles on the Google Chrome Options

Basics

- Set your home page
- Make Google Chrome your default browser

Minor Tweaks

- Set download file location
- Save passwords

Under The Hood

- Proxy settings
- Cookie settings

Conclusion

Overall Google Chrome is nothing to get excited about unless you want a no frills browser for speed and efficiency but I won’t be giving up my Firefox browser any time soon. As for Mac users Google Chrome currently only supports XP and Vista operating systems so they are losing out on a huge sector of end users unlike Safari browser which caters for both Windows and Mac users.

It’s still early days so maybe with future developments you never know if Google will make Chrome accessible to Mac users. I wonder if Google will contact large computer dealers to get Google Chrome preloaded onto their new computer systems just as Microsoft have with Internet Explorer. Of course Microsoft have the edge because Internet Explorer is a part of the Windows operating system to begin with so there is absolutely no competition there.

However, I can forsee the reluctance of people to download yet another browser taking up system resources if they cannot get much use out of it. I have Google Chrome on my desktop and seldom use it due the the fact that Firefox has just what I need in a browser.

If you’re curious about Google Chrome download it here for free.

Increase Website Traffic With Twitter

Twitter Micro BloggingI have to admit the very first time I heard about Twitter I didn’t pay much attention to it at all. I just couldn’t get my head around, much less become inspired to use the micro blogging service.

However after attending one of Lynn Terry’s weekly Internet Marketing webinars she announcement that she would be experimenting with Twitter to evaluate whether it would be of benefit to her online business.

What Is Twitter

Twitter is a micro blogging service whereby users can announce to your regular followers and new visitors “What are you doing?” in one short sentence (up to 200 characters) for your Followers to read.

Login to Twitter.com and type in your text message or use AIM, Gtalk, Jabber or use your mobile phone to send SMS text messages direct to your Twitter account.

That’s it!

Key Benefits of Using Twitter

I have seen a steady increase in the number of visitors to my websites from Twitter and a daily influx of new “Followers”.  Many more new blog and newsletter subscribers too as a result.

I have several Twitter accounts to fit into each separate niche I find it is quick and simple to use and is beneficial to my business.

Set up a meeting with someone or a group of people.

Ask others questions sand get a response in real time.

Similar Services

There many other similar micro blogging services like Tumblr, Jaiku and Mixin to name a few. I haven’t tried the others out yet, however I have word that Tumblr is a favorite with some of my online friends. However I am finding that if I get caught up with other task I tend to have a back load of “Things to do” to catch up with, sorting through friends requests and scanning comments on social networks.

I must manage my time more effectively.

I highly recommend twitter especially as I can be used as a quick way to send direct messages that they can respond to in real time. I’m sure you appreciate how versatile Twitter is for networking and sharing events with your friends.
